Originally posted by redwhiteblue View PostOlivia was truly amazing! I still have goosebumps. My niece and I sat quite a way back upstairs on the balcony but the acoustics at the Regent are very good. She still looks like she is in her 30's from where I was sitting! She sang lots of her old ballads, a country and western set which included my favourite "Banks of the Ohio" which would probably be banned from the airwaves these days if you listen to the lyrics closely! Then she did "Magic", "Xanadu" and started singing "Physical" as an acoustic ballad, got up from her stool and said this isn't how it is supposed to be sung and then did a much raunchier version. She also mentioned that it's been 40 years since she first had her big break and was happy to be home in Melbourne. It's also been 20 years exactly since her cancer treatment and said how she was at her farm in Byron recovering, thinking she would never perform again, but the lyrics to songs just kept flowing to her so she kept writing (thank goodness for us!). She also included a Grease Medley with her American band members and was also backed by the Melbourne Pops Orchestra. Also performed were Please Mr Please, Send in the Clowns, Have You Never Been Mellow, Sam, I Honestly Love You & Hopelessly Devoted to You. I must say that megamix for the new movie is truly appalling! Livvie should never have to sing the likes of Mickey! Daryl Braithwaite was support act and he was in fine voice too. He was very funny when he asked how many Collingwood fans were in the audience and lots of booing ensued. My niece said to me that is how to divide a crowd in Melbourne! I said, "Oh, are they like Souffs then?!" Am very exhausted today as I normally don't go out in the evenings on a Monday. Oh dear...
