  • It’s a tough situation bud and I feel for you being separated from friends and family but this thing won’t last. It’s a blip in life albeit a very inconvenient one.

I hate the saying but it’s true, we are all in this together. All we have to do is play our part. Now is not the time to be a self centered rebel. We all have suck it up for the short term, play our part and the sooner we can all get back to some sense of normality.

    Stay safe mate.

    • OMG we really do have some deluded posters on here. Talking about being in agreement with respecting others choices when they have clearly said they are not and do not respect that choice others may choose to make,

Talking about being vaccinated so they don’t pass it on to others, where only those living in complete denial now have not accepted the vaccine does not stop you getting it nor transmitting it.

Talking about taking it as to not use up a hospital bed where statistical evidence in the worlds most vaccinated country Israel now shows that more than half of the people 59 percent from memory hospitalised are fully vaccinated.

Don't think that stat of 59% is even close but if you could show some accurate evidence of this from a reliable source that would be greatly appreciated .Also I'm not sure that you fully understand that it doesn't matter what you or I do the facts are that untill a certain amount of us are vaccinated the the lockdowns will continue. That's hurting the economy , family and everything else so continuing the work against the vaccination program is just prolonging the issue.

Don’t get the vaccine. Then don’t ask for help if you get infected. I now respect your choice not to get it. What I don’t respect is the ramifications of that choice and the self entitlement in making such a decision. Your respected choice could be a contributing factor in the suffering of many others both personally and those in business. I’m shocked and confused as to why you would be ok with that but it’s your choice right?

A chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link. There’s no ‘I’ in team. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.

You get the point. Get on board champ. Pull your weight and be part of the team if you care.

              Good article Zac.
              So in summary:

the rate of serious cases among unvaccinated people over age 60 was nine times more than the rate among fully vaccinated people of the same age category,
the rate of serious cases among unvaccinated people in the under-60 crowd was a little more than double the rate among vaccinated people in that age bracket.
half of Israel's seriously ill patients who are currently hospitalized were fully vaccinated at least five months ago. Most of them are over 60 years old and have comorbidities.
Israel has a young population, with many under the eligible age for vaccination, and about 1.1 million eligible Israelis, largely between the ages of 12 and 20, have declined to take even one dose of the vaccine
that means only 58% of Israel's total citizenry is fully vaccinated. Experts say that's not nearly high enough

Now is a critical time,” Israeli Minister of Health Nitzan Horowitz said as the 56-year-old got a COVID-19 booster shot on 13 August, the day his country became the first nation to offer a third dose of vaccine to people as young as age 50. “We’re in a race against the pandemic.”

His message was meant for his fellow Israelis, but it is a warning to the world. Israel has among the world’s highest levels of vaccination for COVID-19, with 78% of those 12 and older fully vaccinated, the vast majority with the Pfizer vaccine. Yet the country is now logging one of the world’s highest infection rates, with nearly 650 new cases daily per million people. More than half are in fully vaccinated people, underscoring the extraordinary transmissibility of the Delta variant and stoking concerns that the benefits of vaccination ebb over time.

hat is clear is that “breakthrough” cases are not the rare events the term implies. As of 15 August, 514 Israelis were hospitalized with severe or critical COVID-19, a 31% increase from just 4 days earlier. Of the 514, 59% were fully vaccinated. Of the vaccinated, 87% were 60 or older. “There are so many breakthrough infections that they dominate and most of the hospitalized patients are actually vaccinated,” says Uri Shalit, a bioinformatician at the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion) who has consulted on COVID-19 for the government. “One of the big stories from Israel [is]: ‘Vaccines work, but not well enough.’”

Yes there are recent reports that the Pfizer vaccine loses its effectiveness over time. Imagine how much worse Israel would be if none of them were vaccinated at all.

                    a better summary.
there's no sensible reason to oppose mass vaccination. heavens - considering where we were a year ago i'd have welcomed vaccines that were less effective. this vaccine is incredibly effective and i'm happy to have a booster shot when necessary

                    • Definition of irony: Me getting messages from all the managers yesterday for being a team player for not only doing my own workload but that of all the others on sick leave due to being fully vaccinated and now falling so ill afterwards they cannot log in and work from home. Deadlines had to be met and reports completed. Brings me back to what I said before about me being the only person in our team years ago who didn't get the flu shot and was the only one not sent home sick as they were all getting runny noses and sneezing all over the place. Back working for the same employer too..oh the irony of it all..

                      • Interesting hearing Gladys speak just then. Seemed very clear and sure of the pathway she is taking. Handled the journos well when asked about why it wasnt all of Sydney with curfew and extra restrictions. Explaining close to 80 percent of case numbers came from those areas. So the focus of the stretched resources needed to be on those ares with the high numbers. If you do it all over the resources are stretched. Also mentioned other states have to accept we have to learn to live with this and at some stage once again become a nation. Whether the other states like it or not NSW looks to be headed down the path the UK has taken. Makes perfect sense to me. Let us all hop these nations in Europe whom have taken this pathway continue to live relatively freely through the winter months. I see whatever happens there as a snapshot what will happen with us next winter

when i hear your situation i can't help but think you've got the wrong end of the pineapple. it's people like you who can't get vaccinated who benefit most from high levels of vaccination in the community but you're encouraging people to not get the vaccine. guess no one can accuse you of acting out of self-interest.
there's also the fear that the reason you can't get vaccinated makes it more likely that covid could do nasty things to you.

You should do the exact opposite to everyone else in life always!. Don’t brush your teeth, don’t eat right, don’t excersise, don’t drive on the correct side of the road, don’t wipe your arse, etc... etc...

Gladys isn't taking the pathway....the pathway is taking her and she has no choice. Slow response to the initial outbreak in Bondi, then half hearted measures for weeks after, she has well and truly screwed up & lost control. It should never have come to this. Now every sentence that comes out her has the word "vaccination" in it.....but what else can she say?

She can talk about hitting 80% vaccination rates and living with it like its her idea....but all the states had the same target months ago. Unfortunately the feds screwed up the the vaccination rollout. We should be living like the UK now-where there's a very high vaccinated percentage.
