Mate, Communist China are doing a good and deliberate job of not reporting cases/deaths attributed to the virus they effin started!
Any info on that VD Man?
I agree. If you want to ever get on a flight or see things return to normal you just need to get on with it.

Regarding China I literally can't comment. The National Security Law is very real and to be feared. I can say that Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of China. Since January, 2020 there have been many Covid-19 cases. There have been waves and periods where there have been zero cases. We have had minimal cases over the past couple of months but there are certainly still cases. There seems to be a few cases of the new strain but not too sure.

Interesting that in the USA, six months ago you could be banned from social media platforms for suggesting the virus came from a lab. Now it is the most popular theory.

Had my first AZ jab and the week after they changed the age, mind you I'm right on the cusp of the age thats still recommend for the AZ , so its about 6 weeks till my 2nd jab also.So glad i had my first shot as there is so many spot fires breaking out in the centre i work at at the moment.

Hey Horrie, sounds like you got your jab about the same time as me because I had the same experience. Found out only a few days after they were changing the age recommendations for the AZ. I’m right in the middle of those two ages but my husband has just turned 52 so a bit annoying for him. But you’re right, given what’s going on now at least we’ve had one jab and only 6 weeks away from the second. I hope the side effects for the second aren’t as bad as the first though. We both had bad chills, body aches and a really bad headache. Hope you stay healthy Horrie and the breakouts at your work place keep well away.

        • Thanks mightyrooster, yes it sounds like we had the jab at about the same time, touch wood i had no side effects from the first jab so hopefully it will be the same with the second, i'm 58 so wasnt to concerned about when they changed the ages but probably would have preferred the Pfizer jab. The centre where i work keeps on popping up on the list and two more dates were added late today also, one day i wasnt there and one i was, the day i had been there has been monitor for symptons reports and not the get tested and isolate warning but it doesnt make it any less scary but glad i have at least had the first jab. I think anymore reports at the centre i will get tested, a few other staff members have been tested and come back negative. Both my sister and brother in law are in 14 days isolation , both have tested negative but my brother in law was deemed as a close contact to a case in Coles Bondi Jct so had to isolate.
You and your family stay safe and hopefully we all come out the other end healthy and safe.

Its ludicrous mate. No Jobkeeper for businesses to support affected staff this time either.

I think the pennies starting to drop that we can't keep locking people down. Got to live with an element of risk. The UK is just getting on with life now no crazy lockdowns. Our pollies are watching closely, hopefully we wont see lockdowns again (at least in NSW) after this crazy over reach.

Yep agree Jack but first we have to get on with the vaccinations .I don't think it's rocket science to realise that when we come out of lockdown and if cases here or other states escalate then no doubt there will be calls to lock down , shut borders and such again .It seems never ending but whether we like it or not vaccination is the only way out .We simple can't keep trying to eradicate it .It doesn't work

True you cant expect to fully eradicate, just control to protect those at risk.

They've already vaccinated aged care residents and majority of over 70s I think, so the vulnerable should already be covered. The pollies shouldn't be holding that over peoples heads. The rest of the population can make up their own minds, same as normal flu jab....in my opinion anyway.

Im 100% sure if we had the UK's vaccination percentage we wouldn't be in lockdown now. The Federal government need to be accountable for the ridiculously slow vaccine roll out and financially reimburse Sydney businesses and workers who are out of pocket. Once everyone has had the chance to be vaccinated ( or decide not to take it) with the vaccine of their choice then we open everything up including international borders

You do realise we can't get stock if the phizer vaccine because if our low numbers. They refuse to allocated us the numbers we want because other countries are in more need .Agree that the rollout has not been perfect but no one has

Exactly. We have been our own worst enemy in doing so well with it so far.

Like anything in life, you do the right thing and get farked over for it while the world tries to make right the wrongs of others.

Thanks Horrie. Things are pretty good here in Canberra. Apparently we have a a few thousand in self isolation who have been to the greater Sydney area etc, but luckily no lockdowns here, just the mandatory wearing of face masks. It must be so hard for you guys in the heart of the Sydney 'breakout' and lockdown at the moment. I have many extended family there as I was born in the western suburbs. I do hope you don't have to go through Covid testing or worse still catch it.

Sorry but thats not quite right.

The incident you are referring to was when Italy blocked 250,000 Astra Zeneca doses coming to Australia in March this year. At the time, Health Minister Greg Hunt said "one shipment" wouldn't affect Australia's rollout plans. The 250,000 doses had not even been factored into the first phase. As it stands today Australia has a surplus of AstraZ- hence the government opening the age bracket to anyone who wants it- going against medical advice.Nice. Playing Russian Roulette with you getting blood clots and dying is a risk that Morrison is willing to take.

I know of no country that has blocked a Pfizer shipment to Australia -but if you do im happy to stand corrected.

The stuff up was when Pfizer had approached the federal government in June 2020 but inexplicably it wasn't until November that the government placed a order. The cost of a Pfizer dose is $20 compared to $4 Astra-Z no doubt came into play- plus it could be manufactured locally. Meanwhile other countries ordered early what they could, knowing too well that there would be a shortfall & putting all your eggs in one basket was flirting with danger. Pfizer is honoring the orders of those who ordered before us.

                            • My understanding and of course can stand corrected that the European union has been withholding supply to countries that are not overly effected by the virus .They were warned not to do it to the UK because the UK supplies some ingredients needed. They may definately not said they are withholding but supplying others and slowing our shipments amounts to the same thing. But I do also agree that instead of waiting and trying to subdue the beast we should have had massive vaccination happing earlier but unfortunately SMo back the wrong vaccine .I don't blame him for that as it would have been at the advice of the so called medical professionals. But one thing we all must realise is this is new for all government and mistakes will and have been made but hopefully they learn for the future. As should we all

Nobody believes medical professionals told the Australian Government in July 2020 not to order the Pfizer vaccine. Based on what reason? At the time all the early trials showed Pfizer as being the more effective vaccine. However just like the AstraZ the Pfizer wasnt yet approved for usage-both still had hurdles to jump before being approved. It was very possible that one of the two may have had issues- as it turns out the Astra Z did have issues. It makes perfectly good sense to do what the majority of the world did-order both....& forget about the fact that Pfizer is 5 times more expensive as Astra Z.

So in the end someone needs to be accountable for what was a very poor decision- that is going to cost billions. I was supportive of Scomo with his leadership when Covid broke out-he was decisive, clear & gave direction- but he needs to own this one. He has no problems showing his head when the news is good- especially when it came to praising Gladys- but NSW shouldn't be in this position now
