I wouldn't call a minority govt at the mercy of the Greens and Independents as "functioning".

Nor would I call the ETS and RSPT policies which brought Rudd undone as "populist". My criticism of Rudd is that he squandered the opportunity to blame the libs for the GFC and introduce tough policies at the start of term, but instead got it arse about and introduced populist policies first.

Let's see how Gillard fairs in the polls when the Carbon Tax and the means testing of the Health Care rebate kicks in.

Chook, they have been criticized because for so long they never gave the reasons why Rudd was dumped. We just kept hearing how great he was, how he saved us from the GFC and so on, yet they dumped him. That was my criticism at the last election and it still sits uneasy with me (I voted for Rudd). The ALP couldn't have it both ways. They also can't blame him for all their problems while Gillard served with him in cabinet. Now he we hear the reasons why he was dumped and they include him being a psycho and incompetent. If that is right why did they sit quietly and do nothing for 2 years? Also why would they give him the top job as foreign minister? It doesn't make sense to me. No matter how big a prick Rudd is he was elected by us he should of gone to the election in 2010. No matter what would of happened, the ALP would be in a better position than they are in now.

While all this Rudd business has hurt Gillard she is farked because she has botched so many things Carbon Tax, Malaysia, Wilkie and so on.

On the Carbon Tax I don't why she didn't come out and say as part of the agreement to form Government we agreed to the Carbon Tax with the Greens. I don't agree with the Tax but I can understand the position she is in and I think plenty of people would have said fair enough.

On the next election anyone who votes for this rabble are genuinely farking stupid. They have had 2 terms it has been a disaster, anyone with a brain can't honestly say they deserve a third.

I would as the current parliment has been one of most progressive for more than a decade. It two terms Labor has introduced as much legilsation as Howard did in four. In fact Labor has introduced twice as much infrastructure spending legislation in two terms than Howard did in four. Regardless of what the media sock muppets proclaim this Labor minority government is functioning.

This is what I don't get. The Libs govern for the rich and the richer at the expense of the middle class and the poor. You only need to look at their Direct Action plan for climate change which will cost each and every household in this country over $1300.00. Whereas Labor's plan puts that cost onto the very companies and corporations that are doing the polluting and then syphons that revenue raised into the pockets of everyday Australians. But I doubt 1 in 20 Australians could even recognise that glaring clue about how the Libs operate.

Workchoices is another example of the Libs governing for the rich. Blabbotts plan to recind the mining tax is yet another example of taking money from everyday Australians and popping it back into the pockets of billionaires. Who are their major political benefactors by the way. Yet most Australians are far too stupid to see this trend and recognise it for what it is. A path to massive debt both personal and public. The Libs want us to go the way of America where the rich get to decide what legislation, policies and programs get enacted at the expense of the middle class and the poor. And exactly where is that becon of corporate greed and capitalism...16 trillion dollars in debt!

          Chook.

Fitz I agree that Labor farked it up by not declaring clearly why they deposed Rudd. What they should have done was actually hold the spill in 2010 and take a vote. Rudd would have got around 10 votes out of a caucus of 132 members and THAT would have demonstrated to the Australian people that Rudd had lost the plot. And that's why Rudd never stood in 2010 against Gillard for the leadership as he would have been humilated as a standing PM. And by appointing him as foreign minister they placated his ego and tried to keep the Ruddites appeased.

And while I also agree that Malaysia and the pink bats were disasters, name me one parliment that hasn't farked up a piece of legislation?

On the carbon tax it would not have mattered. Even if Gillard came out and stated "I am going back on a pre-election committment to form a minority government" she would have been lanced in the media and by Blabbott just as she is now.

I can understand why people would be turned off Labor atm, they have been a circus at times. But I would vote for a circus being lead by a monkey with a left handed screw driver before I would vote for Abbott. I would however consider voting for the Libs if Turnball or even Hockey were in charge, but Abbott, no farking way in hell. I'm starting the ABBA movement - Anyone But Bloody Abbott! That man is a religious fundementalist and THE most dangerous politician this country has ever seen.

            Chook.

So true! As much as the ALP is a rabble at the moment, the thought of that sexist, fascist, dinosaur nutcase being PM scares me to death. But it is GOING TO HAPPEN. The ALP needs to stop fighting amongst themselves and start fighting the real enemy!

We agree on quite a few things.

But I still think Gillard should of been honest about the Carbon Tax and the deal with the Greens. See the problem is people still see this as an ALP Government, it really isn't. She should of come out and said I promised this before but things have changed and this the best way for the country to move forward. As I said before I don't agree with the Tax but myself and other fair minded people would have said fair enough and it would of just defused the issue.

On Abbott when he was first elected leader I never ever thought of him as a serious candidate for PM he just alienates too many people, that's evident in the polls. I always laugh though when someone uses the term dangerous. I had people telling me that Gillard the "childless atheist ex communist" was dangerous but she has been our PM for close to two years and while I have been critical the world hasn't ended. I suspect if Abbott was leader the world wouldn't end either. If he tried anything extreme the way Senate is we would be back at the polls anyway.

Other Liberal leaders, I liked Hockey but he has been pretty awful in opposition. Turnbull not being leader honestly is a tragedy for the country. I can't see him being the Liberal leader, not for a long time anyway. He probably should have a crack at the ALP leadership.

Malcolm Turnbull will be one of the best treasurers this country will have.

Joe Hockey would be one of the worse.

Bring back Turnbull. I'd settle for Hockey. Hey I'd even take that arrogant smug Costello over the Mad Monk!

                          Chook,

Most infrastructure policies were introduced by Rudd, not Gillard. NBN, BER, money to states during GFC.

As for the rich getting richer, poor getting poorer. I am yet to see any government in the last 40 years reverse that trend. Wages will continue to get eroded through inflation and jobs going overseas.

We need somone like British PM David Cameron. He's operating a minority government with the Liberal Democrats Nick Glegg and from what I read doing a bang up job.

When you really boil it down though, a minority government is not unlike a majority one under a Westminster system. The main difference is when and where the checks and balances occur.

                            Chook.

Splittin hairs mate. Most if not all infrastructure spending in the last 30 years has been under Labor.

When was the last time you read an unbiased (and uncorrupt) English Newspaper. You must have missed the "off with their heads" riots last year and the strikes too.

David Cameron and Nick Clegg are two peas in a horrible, horrible socialist pod.
