Sad news for those of us who grew up in the 60's
[From the Daily Telegraph 1/3/12]
DAVY Jones, lead singer of the '60s pop-rock group The Monkees, has died at the age of 66 of a heart attack.
Jones, who last performed February 19 in Oklahoma, formed the Monkees in 1966 with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork.
Their biggest hits included "Daydream Believer", "Last Train to Clarksville" and "I'm a Believer" and they also had a television show.
After the show went off the air, the group eventually disbanded but Jones continued to perform on his own.
TMZ said Martin Memorial Hospital confirmed Jones' death.
His publicist Helen Kensick told FOX News Channel, "The only thing we can do is confirm that he has died of a heart attack at Indiantown Florida this morning. We will have more later. "
Jones, a native of Manchester, England, is survived by his wife, Jessica, and four daughters from previous marriages
