Go on, call names. Shows your true level of intellect and that’s a FACT.
I am not above apologising, so I will do that. I shouldn't have called you any names, I am sorry for that.
I just get so frustrated with this whole situation, which I consider to be a massive over reaction.
Nothing the government have done has stopped the virus, probably millions more have had it and never even knew it or never bothered getting tested.
Yes it is very contageous, just like the flu or a cold, and wearing 5 cent masks doesn't stop it.
But it has a miniscule chance of being fatal to a person who is generally in good health with a normally functioning immune system.
When I say miniscule I mean like ONE in ONE MILLION.
Because that is the case here in Australia normally healthy people under 60. Something like 20 out of 20 MILLION.
I find it mind numbingly embarrassing to see normal healthy people walking around in masks for no other reason than they were ORDERED to.
I hope common sense prevails soon, but I worry we have let this thing set a precedent which we will have to fight to aviod a repeat of.

You aren’t going to stop it by being vaxxed. You are going to minimize its effects and overall infectious periods by being vaxxed. That will slow it’s spread. That combined with taking precautions like minimizing peoples movement about the place will help.

New strains are just that, new and not much prep can be done for what we don’t know is coming which is why we keep on having to do what we can for now.

Answer this, if your safest option to avoid danger is to be as far away from it as possible, wouldnt you take it? Of course you would. Someone at work has a cold or flu, do you sit close and have lunch with them? Of course not. You stay away. It’s common sense really.

as for not not knowing if someone is infected, you are not going to know but you can take precautions. Get vaxxed, stay at home unless the reason to go out is essential.

Honestly, it’s not going away for now so you can do what you want to be safe or not until a better course of action comes about.

How many vaccines will I have to have before I can be safe?

                drop like flies
                phrase of fly
                1. die or collapse in large numbers.

                  • "Mask up!" Is being called for by nurses, health officials, and doctors in nsw now...as hospitals are being overrun with Covid cases.
A doctor whose opinions I trust said on the 9 news last night that:
                    "Small children are dying.
                    People under 60 are dying."
                    She urged mask- wearing.

Yes, "mask up or perish" it surely is.

70 people in nsw died from Covid last week.
Yes it's the maskless people on the buses and trains etc who are catching Covid and dying.
You don't see dead people on the bus.

                        Someone's children and grandchildren.
Mask wearing and social distancing should never have been abolished "indoors".

People have moved on, from living... to the grave, killed by Covid in record numbers.

Just use the ignore function like I do. Thank goodness for technology. It really does make a difference to the enjoyment of this place. Thanks to Chris for allowing us that privilege..funny how in the space of a year so much has changed. Some in my metaphorical penthouse have now been relegated to my basement.

It will be exactly a year ago this Saturday the limo driver went all around my area with Delta..not Goodrem...

I had walked passed the Belle Cafe at Vaucluse just 90 mins before he went there as I'd been up to the junction to get my new glasses from HCF..so I didn't actually go into Westfield..so many lives lost during that time and a lot of my friends and family and work mates are still struggling with ongoing symptoms and long covid and it finally took my 100 year old auntie when nothing else could fell her. Blessings to those who have lost loved ones to Covid in the past 12 months especially..not to be sneered at or taken lightly at all.

                          • Some fools on here need to seriously get a grip of reality. Yes people die with or from covid

That has never been disputed The survival rate in this country is above 99.8 percent 7.45 million cases a bit over 8k deaths

The fear mongering is disproportionate for the death rate.

The vaccine is ineffective as it does not stop infection or transmission and we are now in the endemic phase This is the life get used to it Sit outside and talk to a tree or plant if that helps

BB, you mentioned you were 18 in 1965 when you were working in an office, so you must have been born in around 1947, same year as David Bowie and same year that Parra & Manly joined the competition. So that means you have lived a fine age already BB and should be treated with more respect than you have been on here. I wish you and Mrs BB a safe winter period. My Dad used to say if you can live past August, particularly if you have heart conditions, you'll live another year. It was always bitterly cold growing up in the country. I always used to say can't my August birthday be moved to summer, just once?

I wouldn't like to be on a bus with people not wearing masks at the moment either BB. Everything you have posted is valid. My work team only attend the office on Mondays and we are not expected to go in thank goodness like some of the other big companies who are forcing staff back to the office. Those who have been going are now all sick either from Covid or the flu or have had both over the course of the last few months. One of my Roosters mates in my apartment block said his Dad in his 70's who lives up the road had covid earlier in the year, recovered well from it but now has this dreadful flu after his flu shot that just won't budge after 3 weeks. I just got my new little heater set up here as after losing 40kg, I'm really feeling the cold now. I do still go for a one hour walk every night looking like a Roosters tragic with every piece of gear I own on my back and head...but they are the warmest clothes I have. It's important to keep the limbs moving too.

I just think some are desensitised to case numbers now unless it's one of their own loved ones included in that number. June is a very hard month for me personally. Someone I loved very much would have been 58 on this coming Sunday 12 June but he is no longer with us and it's hard not to think about what might have been if he had survived and what we would have been doing to celebrate etc. Dad's anniversary is 15 June and Mum's is 29 June. So I will spend this month in quiet reflection and just listening to music that inspires me, doing some cooking, lighting candles and anything that brings comfort. Staying away from negativity and insensitive people also.

Take care BB, keep remembering your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's and no one has the right to mock or sneer others from a different generation in particular as we were all raised with different values in different eras. I'm a great believer in being mindful of what is said to one another whether it's online or in person. None of us can predict when our time is up, particularly now since Covid, and would you really want the last words you posted to someone or said to them to be ones of anger? Again, I keep reiterating how we lost Johnny Tobin in such a short space of time and I look back at some of the very ordinary comments directed at him before he passed, all because he had a different opinion on something. It still hasn't sunken in with some sadly. They always have to have the last word - 'back answering' my parents used to call it. It's the equivalent of going to bed angry with someone. Not good for the heart or soul.

I know you mentioned you like The Seekers (they were the first group my parents played for me as they had a small white cassette player they put next to my cot) so here is one for all of us who have lost someone we've loved recently:

"'I'll Never Find Another You" recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

                                Ma Foi...........

August 1967. We are the same month as well as year.
Still, I'm probably younger seeing as I was born on the very last day of winter.

Still, age is a number, and you're only as old as you feel...................which makes me about 100.
