You might want to look into that as it is still around. It is one of the seasonal flu's that comes around each year. Covid-19 won't ever go away, it's just likely to continue to mutate like other flu's into a less serious form over time.

What's important is that the vaccine will greatly reduce the hospitalization rate amongst the highly vulnerable.
Other than that it might be best to stop worrying about it, bb. Delta, Omicron, Megatron, Optimus Prime variant. Who cares. Protect yourself and just go about your life as normal.

See what I mean?
Now Cummins can't play in the second Test...Covid close contact at a restaurant in Adelaide.
Two other of our test cricketers were at the same restaurant...but dined outdoors... or our second Test team could be three stars short.
No absolute bubble for the cricketers.
Now look what's happened.
Think this can't happen to our footy team...losing star player/s on the eve of matches?
Think again.
Seems to me that *everyone* and *everywhere* have given up...it just "all too hard".
Our players go to a restaurant, three are deemed close contacts...ruled out of a vital match.
We lose, our season over.
Welcome to "lucky dip" season 2022.Last edited by bondi.boy; 12-16-2021, 02:56 PM.

bondi.boy what you are demonstrating here is what is wrong with Australia at the moment. You are not living with the virus (which we all have to do). We knew that it was going to still spread in a largely vaccinated population. It's not "giving up" or thinking it's too hard, it's being pragmatic.
We knew we were all going to get exposed to it sooner rather than later. We knew that a small proportion would still get very sick and we know that some people will still die. Players missing games due to being deemed close contacts is nothing... in time that will become less and less relevant. The drips who use outlier cases to scaremonger are doing so because Covid makes them feel relevant, they're desperate to milk it for as long as they can (your Bill Bowtell and Eric Feigl-Ding's).
None of this should come as a surprise, not sure what alternative you'd prefer? We go back into lockdown and cause even more damage to society?Last edited by Waerea-Beast!; 12-16-2021, 02:57 PM.

Maybe the Health Minister feels a responsibility to stop as many people as possible getting Covid, getting sick, suffering long term consequences, and dying.
Seems to me we're back where we started in 2020, with some people being deemed
"expendable".
Seems to me that *given up, all too hard" is exactly what's happening.

Right before the Eastwood character, William Money, kills Gene Hackman's character “Little Bill”, Bill says, “I don't deserve to die like this.” Eastwood's reply is simply, “Deserves got nothing to do with it.”
And another classic paraphrased line from No Country for Old Men...
"What you got ain't nothin' new ... You can't stop what's coming. It ain't all waiting on you. That's vanity."
The point being I feel like there's an element of hubris and self importance to the human response to this pandemic.
As a species we've raped and plundered this planet with absolute abandon since the Industrial revolution - using up and abusing nature and other creatures without any care.
And now, in the midst of our super cushy lives - paid for with the blood of nature - we're faced with a minor crisis and there's this element of "what about poor me? How could this be happening to me?!"
People would benefit from adopting a Stoic response to the pandemic. Marcus Aurelius would be befuddled by the neurotic, fear induced reaction of our Western society to the virus.
The fact is that life has a 100% mortality rate. And you have to decide just how much of a bubble you want to live in to reduce risk and maybe, maybe prolong your breathing time on this earth (breathing, not living).
You can avoid overseas travel because that's risky. Or you could take pragmatic precautions like avoid dangerous places.
You could not ride a bike or drive a car because it's risky. Or you could take pragmatic precautions like wearing a helmet/seatbelt and practice defensive driving.
And with the pandemic you could just stay in your house all day, have your food delivered and avoid human contact as much as possible. Or you could take pragmatic precautions like getting the jab, wearing a mask indoors/public transport, eating healthy, etc then go about living your life to the full with a renewed emphasis on just how precious every day is.
The choice is yours. But please stop pretending that a few cricketers missing a Test match is important in the grand scheme of things because it really isn't.

Even more important to me is that no Roosters players miss matches because of Covid.
We can't afford it.

how do we avoid it? By sitting in a bubble and not working, locking down and avoiding all human contact? How do we pay our rent/ mortgages? Bills etc …
if a cricket match is affected or a footy game is cancelled then let it be, there are far more important things in life .
