I'll give my basic reason for opposing masks in most settings.

It assumes everyone has Covid, when we need to move to a situation that if your vaxed and self regulate behaviour/isolation we should assume people out in the community don't have it. The same as flu's in the past. Otherwise we will never move on in society. Asymptomatic transmission of viruses risk is something we have lived with all our lives.

You don't keep the car in the garage to avoid having an accident. Or keep it covered up indefinitely might be a closer analogy.

Exceptions for health care worker settings where people are working directly with sick and vulnerable persons.

Without the vax hospital admissions would be much greater and death rates much higher. The vax was never a guarantee but it’s affect is worthwhile.
According to stats I read this morning, in NSW 50% of hospital admissions are unvaxxed people. When you consider that only 5% of the NSW population is unvaxxed, this says a lot.

In the first 3 months of Covid the death rate was 10%, which is VERY SCARY, and needed to be reacted to strongly.
After 6 months it was 5% , which is still VERY SCARY, similar to Spanish flu
BUT
Then we found out that the average age of deaths was 85, and 90% of deaths were already dying of something else.
NOW
In the last 6 months, the death rate has fallen to just over 1%, and in the last last 3 months it is .08%, with many millions more cases.
These percentages include ALL deaths, including the AGED and INFIRM
For normally healthy people the death rates are MINISCULE.
That's a big change, but the morons in power won't see it. Time to move on, get your life back and LIVE.

Has anyone considered that it is due to Omicron being far more mild that the percentage of hospitalisations and deaths to numbers who have it are far, far, far, far, far less ? as opposed to the vaccine actually doing anything useful. No I doubt most would entertain such a possibility as that would mean they have to admit the vaccine is a dud and they have been conned.

I get your point Jack. But I think we are on a precipice right now and we need to be doing simple things to rein back the case numbers as the hospital system is seeing some decent cracks.

Last year I wasn’t wearing a mask because the case numbers were extremely low because as a country we did the right things to stop the spread. Unfortunately I have had family overseas pass away due to covid because the country let it rip. Don’t want to see our great country go down a similar path.

This is the thing that these mask less patriots don’t get mate. It’s about looking after everyone in your community. They are just selfish arseholes who only think about themselves.

Indoor mask mandates are back in and as of the 15th, proof of vaccination needs to be shown to gain access to restaurants, nightclubs, coffee shops, gyms, concert venues and theatres in Washington DC. Other cities around the world are either going back into lockdown or taking similar action.

Hi death may well be attributed to other factors. The fact he had covid at the time could be coincidental. Is it confirmed it’s covid that killed him or he had it when he died?
