Our MSM initially suggested that Nordstream 2 was a Russian operation but unable to withstand the universal derision any longer and perhaps fearing for what remains of their cred, they dropped that line. There are only a few nations capable of such a massive operation - the pipeline is stainless steel encased in concrete - and guess who is the main suspect? Yes, that tireless pursuer of terrorism - the "We just want the world to be safe, nothing else" - the USA.

Sigh... the humiliating torture of having to go through an OVERLY transparent court process (which he's intentionally played out in the media, painting himself as a victim alongside various conspiracy theories) while being on suicide watch 24/7 because your submission to the court is that you are a major suicide risk.

Noting, he'd have been bailed (to one of Bono's castles) if he hadn't previously breached bail to hide in a foreign embassy for an extended period of time while thumbing his nose at the court. He's literally being treated like royalty because they don't want ANYTHING to happen to him (as his supporters would have a field day).

Other than that, the thread has lately descended into name calling and abuse which is depressing but which which should be called for what it really is. For the Right Wing, "to Hell with Reason", alternative facts and abusive disruption are a favourite ploys. They know that they can't win on rationality so they take an off the chart irrationality path to divert and subvert the conversation which they fear might be influential. The pile on and the bile which has "welcomed" the Rock to the thread is disappointing. His research appears to suggest that that existential fears in the Ukraine are nowhere near as pronounced as they are in our MSM. It was an interesting angle and one worth checking further. My advice, after a good start Rocky, is don't bite. The vilification is boring and easily passed over unless you fuel it. Just keep up the research. That will do the same job more that adequately.

And while we're pondering Rock's Ukraine footy comp revelation after we all thought that the joint was rubble, what might we think about the US demanding that China, as a member of the UN Security Council, has a responsibility to desist from aiding Russia with weapons when the US, also a member of the UNSC, exports violence far and wide. I mean the egregious hypocrisy of that is breathtaking. Only a western world comletely in thrall to a western narrative courtesy of a western MSM, could keep a straight face. The unfortunate truth is that most don't even bother to think about it, truth and lies in the west are routinely and inextricably presented together.

A few years back I read a book called The Shipwrecked Mind which resonated with me. In short it described a lot of people with anti-government views as being 'shipwrecked' as their mind is stuck in a state of frustration and all that is positive floats by them unnoticed/unappreciated.

One of the quotes is that '[h]opes can be disappointed. Nostalgia is irrefutable'. This pretty much sums up his current state as he's nostalgic about the Whitlam era and what was going on then. He's stuck there... shipwrecked... and can't accept the validity of any subsequent regimes as he's fixated on his pro-Whitlam nostalgia.

That's fine if he wants to do that. However, IMO it's boring and extremely narrow-minded to the point where it's stopping him from appreciating what we've got here. Again... ~10x the average Chinese wage and houses that are ~6x the size on average. Further, I'm allowed to talk about the Tiananmen Square Massacre and Uyghurs without being locked up by Paddo's beloved CCP police (without a trial, media scrutiny or anything of that nature). It would appear that our MSM's role is sheer propaganda and the preservation of Western power. The idea that Western media is run by fair-minded people who are driven by a desire to talk truth to power and are independent is a mirage. It is a myth, and it is a bitter pill that needs to be swallowed. The idea that the Western journalist is a paragon of virtue also needs to be banished from the minds of consumers of media. That is the first stage in enabling one to step out of the propaganda mist we are engulfed in on a daily basis, so that one can examine different viewpoints as news is consumed. This is not easy given the current dominance of Western media outlets and their apparently collective mission.
