Our former crusader government went out of its way to provoke China even, unilaterally, calling for an investigation of the origins of Covid. China information centres in universities were shut down, Huawei 5G was proscribed, Chinese journalists here were harrassed etc. In response China announced a list of "grievances", not "demands" re Australia's unfriendly attitude but our biased MSM, led by China Hawk, Peter Hartcher (also the author of the recent outrageous "Red Alert" in the SMH) quickly dubbed it a list of "demands" in order to get the punters' backs up. It was no such thing as the article below makes clear. It was written by Geoffrey Raby, a former Australian ambassador to China. A career high level public servant, his credentials are unimpeachable. Obviously you, as an ordinary punter, prefer the views of the MSM which you also claim not to trust in surveys.

Oh so you dont like the "demands" part because it was used by MSM.

Ok lets call its China's 14 suggestions for peace and prosperity- is that more agreeable for you? In any case my point was for the "ordinary punter" to read it and formulate their own opinions.

    • No Randy, it's not that I don't like it because it originated in the MSM, I don't like it because it is untrue and is/was intended to rev up anti China sentiment which it did very successfully helped by our historic racist attitudes. Remember that my previous post discussed how a benign popular view of China not so long ago became a toxic one. "Manufacturing consent" is the process by which the alliance of right wing government and right wing media manipulates the opinions of the punters.

Your "case/point" was, clearly aimed to further obfuscate and encourage antipathy by inviting punters to see them as "demands".

I read Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky one summer. Tough read but very insightful.

Well no....i invited others to formulate their own opinions- how much more direct do you want me to be?

You seem to prefer that the content of the epistle be ignored and instead predictably steer the average punter to yet another opinion penned by a John Menadue author!

          • Is it just a coincidence that pro China articles Comrade "Red Sheepie" Paddo refers too all seem to be written by Former Australian Ambassadors to China and or those residing in China with Business and Commercial Interests.

            I wonder ?

I'd rather be sent to the Gulag than read commie manifesto or a book by Commie Noam Chomsky. Embrace freedom, while u still have it.

Old mate's argument: because all media outlets are in bed with our far-right government and refuse to say the unspeakable truth because Murdoch's manipulating them all with a secret hand.

Any successful media outlet lacks journalistic credibility and people who read such materials are blind sheep who are too stupid to realise they're being swindled by Murdoch's secret hand that controls the universe. The only way out of his clutches is to dump on democracies and instead open your eyes to how fascist dictatorships are actually utopian paradises once you ignore all the falsehoods being told about how barbaric such governments are and how poor their standard of living is when compared with democracies.

Reality: no western government or media outlet is THAT organised and they're certainly not all subsidiaries of News Ltd. We have a centre-left government (in Australia + the USA) and progressive media outlets like ABC / the Guardian / Huff Post...etc that are clearly not right-wing.

John Menadue tried building a media empire (i.e. WANTED to be mainstream) but failed. He's now been bitterly backed into a corner where his 'empire' is a cr@ppy little opinions blog that nobody reads and his main source of contributions is the CCP's 50 Cent Army. People aren't being hoodwinked when they read more popular sources of news/analysis. Rather... they are smart enough to identify (and ignore) CCP/Kremlin propaganda when they read it.

Like it or not, most Aussies are pro-democracy and this is a value that's enshrined within our constitution (which is backed by the people). Menadue's contributors do not provide valid left-wing analysis. Rather, they challenge the validity of western democracies using words straight from the Kremlin/CCP, designed purely to spread FUD about democracy (in the hope to destabilise such institutions).

There's a reason why people discredit such FUD and it's not because they're being manipulated by Rupert Murdoch... unless you're saying he also drafted our constitution and designed all global western democracies in an attempt to make modern day fascist dictatorships look barbaric. It's because fascist dictatorships ARE barbaric, their dialogues centre around the creation of a new world order (which rejects democracy & has them in charge as benevolent world rulers) and one has to be pretty darn foolish (or VERY bitter/jaded) to fall for their anti-democratic FUD propaganda campaigns.

Also unlikely that you would have the ability to read such a book.

*Issy: We've heard your naive opinions about "free" press ad nauseam but to anyone who cares to think, the media is not there to dutifully inform us, it is, mostly, a business owned by wealthy individuals either privately or in consortium. Such people, or their minions, choose what to tell us what is news and you can be sure that it is what reflects their interests both economic and political. In that, all media is connected and has a common interest. Yours is a dream world writ large.

                        * We've also heard from ol' Rocky before - he is Jaxie on steroids. He doesn't say much worth reading but what he does say is unfailingly indignant and ignorant (I blame Talk back radio for the rise of the opinionated loon). Ever a cliche man, most of his comments reflect the sheeple opinion of Sky TV. What exactly is the "freedom" we should embrace - the freedom to shop, the freedom to risk our existence fighting Imperialist wars or the freedom to consume endless propaganda? Stick to the footy Rocko or preferably be gone to that mythical gulag, you're way out of your depth here.

                        * Last but not least. Kingsley, who seems to believe that the "commo" slur negates any and all contrary opinion. In this latest contribution he's got the Oz Diplomatic Corps in thrall to China/Russia to a man. The word "absurd" might have been coined for this sort of thing. Ditto my advice to Rockley.

Dude, what the fark is wrong with U?

Not once did i attack or say anything bad against U....if so point it out.

I mentioned freedom in another thread so why bring that up here??

And if Freedom offends u...F. off to the Gulag.

I started in this thread actually defending your right to free speech....and i backed up some of your claims regarding MSM propaganda. And this is my thanks??

Or is this personal attack just a diversion from the basic question which i asked politely

"Please justify how u conclude that our media (MSM) is right wing?.."

Maybe your Sheeple collective leftoid group think tank can find an answer for me. Not holding me breath.

                          .
