Supplying Ukraine is only prolonging the inevitable.
So how would you feel about, for example, China deciding to invade PNG, Indonesia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, East Timor....we going to be cool with that? Not much we can do to stop it, so why bother when its inevitable?

The point is a fair one but the China example isn't. Substituting the US would be closer to reality but, ironically, most Aussie meatheads wouldn't mind US interference, they're used to it, it's entirely normal.

Enough with the aggro China stuff. China hasn't been at war for 40 years and that stouch with Vietnam lasted one month. Other than that China has never been expansionist. The US is the nation that has been at war for 95% of its existence.

The message to US allies is obvious: they cannot be trusted.
Russia attacks Ukraine's energy supplies as US cuts its access to satellite images
By Associated Press
10:41am Mar 8, 2025
Russia attacked Ukrainian energy facilities with dozens of missiles and drones during the night, officials said, hobbling the country's ability to deliver heat and light to its citizens and to power weapons factories vital to its defences.
The overnight barrage—which also pounded residences and wounded at least 10 people—came days after the US suspended military aid and intelligence to Ukraine to pressure it into accepting a peace deal being pushed by the Trump administration. Without US intelligence, Ukraine's ability to strike inside Russia and defend itself from bombardment is significantly diminished.
The US government said it halted Ukrainian access to unclassified satellite images that had been used to help it fight back against Russia.

Oz is really pathetic. Canada is fuming, publicly castigating Trump over the levying of tariffs when there is a Free Trade agreement while here both sides shrink from any conflict because Murdoch is number 1 Trump supporter. The result is an unedifying cringe as both are pitifully hoping that we are the US's "special mates" like really, really good mates. They're in denial as are the sheeple who have little interest apart from Trump's a bastard. There is incredulity everywhere that the US isn't acting like our best buddy and we are clearly theirs.
Of course the media has it both ways. Anti American is still heresy but Trump's an A-hole. They hope that it will pass and we'll return to "US normal".
It will never happen because the demonisation of China is now well and truly inculcated in our ignorant masses but how much better would we be in an Asian collective security pact led by China. We might join Belt and Road, the trade initiative that has massive approval in central Asia and Africa. Prosperity and no more spending billions on "defence" for the US's sake.
The rich establishment anti Chinese among us are now talking about forging stronger links with Europe. How laughable? We're at the arse end of the planet here, a world away from Europe yet we'd want to commit to some Euro conflict in the future? Like the US, Europe has been at war almost continually for ever.
Re Sal's rant about the privileged life of CP officials, I can say from experience that any privileges are not even of a level we might see here or in the US. Some years back when visiting Belgrade, then a Communist ruled nation, I had dinner with a Yugoslav General who was married to a cousin of my then wife. The apartment was in centre of the city, it was tastefully furnished but not opulent and our meal was the normal bill of fair. He lived much as an officer here might live, probably not as well. The "opulence" claim is bullshit.

Go to your local Chinese for your China fix instead but be aware it's Westernised Chinese not Authentic Chinese as Mrs Salvo and I found out back in 1998 - Visited Beijing / Shanghai/ Xian / Guangzhou/ Chengdu - Hong Kong was different food wise as more of the Westernised Type Chinese was available as still British.
You know the difference between Commo Party officials and the Military though? - The Commo party elite were always weary of the military as they had the weapons and access to them - why Stalin and Mao had so many purges of the officer ranks and anyone else seen as "problems".to their rule - Commo Party elite and family/mates lived the high life and that is a fact. - Do you think Tito's and his trusted commo mates lived in squaller
One of Tito' residences- Ah yes the Commo party elite and mates were struggling
Interesting to see another of your " Hero's" in Che Guevara with Tito in the link below

Old Stalin when living at the Kremlin stayed in a different room each night and no one knew which room he stayed in at any one time - so food had to be prepared for all the rooms and placed outside each room - had food tasters to ensure he wouldn't be poisoned - Paranoid comes to mind at least but other words too.
mmm should I say we visited Cuba in 1999? - mmm I leave it to later - Hard to Visit North Korea - very complex to get Visa's as needed to go through China - small tour groups and very strict itineraries - We are Still looking to go one day though when travel restrictions are lifted - before they become capitalist perhaps
