The Menadue website says nothing of the kind you suggest though it does often point out that China is not our enemy (as former leader like Paul Keating does). In fact our close trade relationship with China saved us from the worst effects of the GFC. The site also often repeats that being a client state of the US is not in our best interests as former leader Malcolm Fraser did, in fact he wrote a book about it.

In Oz, Menadue is one of the few sites where an alternative/supplement to msm is provided. We have a right wing print media monopoly and its competitors are right wing as well. All of them are stenographers for the US/UK news service giants which churn out Western propaganda relentlessly. Murdoch has a proven track record of malfeasance and was officially said not to be fit to be the proprietor of an international media empire yet Iz and others choose to accept his world view over that expressed by scholars, former diplomats, academics and investigative journalists well qualified to comment on current affairs. Why is that?

I’ve studied a lot of Japanese history over the years and yes this is not given much light, if any in western media. Ironic given where the US stands with China and Japan today.

Most people have no life of the mind Eddie. In Education you see many, probably 10 - 15%, who arrive having no curiosity about anything, always looking for diversion, or creating it, and at the end of 12 years are not much changed. Still unable to string a sentence together. What had they been doing all of that time? Some of them are problematic and disruptive but the larger group are just quiet and unobtrusive but completely uninterested in mind development. Another largish cohort have not much curiosity, 50% of the population are below average intelligence after all. Only about 10 - 15% of the population excel to some degree. That is not to say that the mass is indolent or purposeless, they get on with life raising children like themselves and are usually competent workers, drones if you will.

For the most part, however, they eschew matters intellectual preferring media that focuses on the materialistic, sensational or sentimental and, of course, they don't read or watch anything particularly meaningful and nor will their kids. Certainly they would never focus on anything like the trade war preceding Pearl Harbour. They are your Sheeple, often critical and complaining but undiscerning in being so. They are easy meat for a biased right wing media that fills its pages with sport, celebrity and consumerism and reports endlessly on cost of living crises without ever mentioning the decline of real wages.

The trade embargo was because of the rise of Imperial Japan's militarism, i.e., invasions of Manchuria, China, and French Indochina.

Imperial Japan was rather ruthless, to say the least, in their military conquests pre- and during WW2, i.e. as above plus the Philippines, Burma, Singapore, Thailand, and Korea, which they had already occupied. Not withstanding their appalling treatment of POWs and civilians.

The US was neutral and isolationist from 1919 on, not wanting to be involved in conflicts in faraway places. Pearl Harbour changed that, plus Nazi Germany declared war on the US four days later.

People not liking the US involvement in world events should really be blaming Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany but they won't.

All Moscow and Tehran paid propagandist without doubt- maybe China as well for some of them - a couple with links to Hezbollah as they appear regularly on the Lebanese Government/Hezbollah Run TV station - Hinkle (MAGA Communism) actual met with Lavrov and Zakharova in Moscow as a so called guest speaker and with Chinese Officials I forget the name of in Beijing - all are regulars on Russian and Iranian TV as well.

Hopefully the relevant authorities have them all under surveillance.
