The USA invokes the UN when it is convenient only. That "policeman of the World" stuff is utter rubbish and your double standards regarding "illegal invasion" is breathtaking and stupid I might add. I can't decide whether you are Right Wing zealots or fools. Come to think of it, there's not a lot of difference.

Minus Western propaganda what's the real story on the Ukraine?

Notably I don't support Dubbya or the war in Iraq. However from an interpretive perspective, there was a UN ceasefire resolution and a bunch of UN countries enforced it. They then setup a binding legal agreement with the new government to progressively withdraw, and did so... leaving Iraq as an independent country.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine is not a comparable event as Russia's trying to take-over Ukraine purely for the purpose of conquest. It has no plans to give back any territory that it's claimed and has made it clear that it doesn't accept Ukraine's independence from it (though there's again... no legal basis for this opinion and Ukraine has operated independently since the demise of the Soviet Union).
There's no 'good wars'. However, Russia's is the current one and it's inexcusable.Last edited by ism22; 01-21-2023, 05:26 PM.

Why is where ever there is war around the world, the US aren’t far away?
What was Russia's justification for trying to expand its borders into Ukraine's again... I forget who gave them permission for that one and why disarming a terrorist state pursuant to a UN resolution (which had a clear beginning and end) is apparently worse than a unilateral invasion for the purpose of conquest (with no end until complete conquest or a surrender are achieved).

What was Russia's justification for protecting its borders against Ukraine's NATO patch initiation... I forget who gave the US permission to use the poor Ukrainian folk as fodder for draining the Russians of wealth and resources in the name of imperial hegemony. And for that one why arming a puppet state with ammunition and weaponry citing a UN resolution is apparently worse than a proxy invasion for the purpose of weakening (with no end until complete waste of life and perhaps a change in US president after many years *see previous Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea etc).
This imposter is proof that AI will eventually take over your job.

You would enjoy a Serbian made movie " Brothers by Guns"......a film that takes a Russian perspective on the Ukraine war and accuses the EU and NATO of supporting fascism

Stan, too has a very good "World Movies" catalogue Count. I do agree that it's a chore finding anything watchable on Netflix or Stan in the general categories and those movies made for Netflix are execrable. I'm a fan of Noah Baumbach usually but his latest Netflix (White Noise) is an embarrassment.
Thanks Randy for the tip. "Brothers" sounds like my kinda movie and very even handed of you to watch/recommend it. Not the dullest tool in the shed by any measure.

[QUOTE=Random Rooster; Yes its propaganda at its finest. Even Joseph Goebbels would have been impressed by it!
I'm sure, but no-one does propaganda better than Hollywood which has the all the white settler countries under its spell. I grew up with Westerns which were invariably right wing and individualist. The hero saved the townsfolk who were themselves individual and evidently incapable of acting as a commune. The "Redskins" (imagine that?) who were a commune were savage, ruthless, untrustworthy and pagan. It was all an effort to prepare the masses for the Cold War and, mostly, we bought it.
Westerns also shaped a male generation's perception of females who, in the movies, never did much but cook, express anguish and flutter around the action men. Minus co-ed schools and no sisters lots of fellas found themselves in trouble with the arrival of the Family Law Act.

Comrade Paddo is a product of the brainwashing people of his ilk underwent and the end result of this.
The average Russian is also susceptibility to brainwashing as it is in their DNA as their descendants suffered constant brainwashing ever since the creation of the Soviet Union/USSR.
Russian State TV and Kremlin backed Social Media Platforms is the vehicle used for the Constant Brainwashing they currently undergo.
Even My Wife was shocked when watching an excerpt from one of these Panel shows on Russian state TV where a Woman Guest (From Stalinist Little Legs Putin Party) was saying how Russia has to destroy all of Ukraine and re-build it again based on Russian values and ethnicity including Russifying Ukrainians by re-educating them. - Ukraine is not recognised as a Country by Russia
The other four Males on this Russian State TV Panel show all had their heads down during this Woman's anti Ukraine Tirade - You could tell by their body language what they were thinking.
That's straight out of Lenin/Stalin times.
My Wife does have Friends from her Medical study times in Ukraine who are Medical staff in the Ukraine Military - Volunteers and conscripted
Another one where this bloke who was born in the former commo East Germany went back to that town he was born in. Went into a shop where the Women owner was very "unhappy" in his words - He got talking to her and telling her he was born in this town and lived here upto re-unification before migrating to Russia.
The smile returned to this Women's face he claimed and she went and got her family - They were all saying he claim's that they all want Russia back and want to be part of Russia again.
The female presenter then said yes she has heard that is the case too in Lithuania , Latvia, Estonia , Poland , Romania , Bulgaria etc - She finished with "maybe we should hold referendums in those countries on this " - I assume she means Russia conducts the referendums.
None of those countries would ever want Russia back to control them in any way shape of form but goes to show the mindset of the Soviet Union still existing or needing to be resurrected.- mmm by force
Stalinist Little Legs Putin's creeping rehabilitation of despot Stalin (great leader and right to crack down hard on dissidents) and the collapse of the Soviet Union being the greatest tragedy of the 20th Century - even saying it was illegal for countries to leave the Soviet Union as they had to ask permission and none did - Oh Ukraine has never existed and it's always been Russian Lands
Barking mad is an understatement for the type of Russian Government propaganda being peddled by Stalinist Little Legs Putin's regime.

You must have watched different Westerns to me as the Women were an integral part of the film plot not in the background at all or playing bit parts- These are films not real life unless the film was about real people in history.
Even your Stalin was a Fan of American Westerns . Also liked the one's that involved bank robberies as he was a bank robber himself in the Early 1900's
Stalin didn't like the Duke John Wayne though and sent KGB Agents to kill him
His successor, Nikita Khrushchev, met privately with John Wayne in 1958 and informed him that the order had been rescinded. Wayne told his friends Khrushchev called Stalin’s last years his “mad years” and apologized
The entire time Wayne knew there was a price on his head, he refused the FBI’s offer of federal protection and didn’t even tell his family. He just moved into a house with a big wall around it. Once word got out, though, Hollywood stuntmen loyal to the Duke began to infiltrate Communist Party cells around the country and expose plots against him.

Ah yes the Man that shot Liberty Valance was really a cold war film - Jimmy Stewart , John Wayne, Woody Strode as the " Americans " up against the "Soviets" in Lee Marvin , Lee Van Cleef , Strother Martin and High Noon with Gary Cooper taking on the "Soviet" Miller gang too
You would undoubtedly say that the Magnificent Seven was a Socialist/Communist Film Comrade Paddo - 7 Capitalist Gun's for hire switching ideologies and helping Soviet Union Style Collective Farmers fight off a band of Capitalist Crooks and Robbers.
Yuliy Borisovich Briner (Yul Brenner) being Russian - Born in Vladivostok meant the film was okay for viewing by the public in the USSR - Above is what the USSR Regime portrayed the film as being about - a fight between Socialism/Communism and Western Capitalism with Socialism/Communism winning
Issur Danielovitch (Kirk Douglas) Films were also allowable as his parents were born in the Russian Empire as it was then - now Belarus
