Heading over to Aus tomorrow for my dads funeral. Going to be all over the shop through 3 states so vaccine and quarantine statuses are a mess! It’s taken me the best part of 4 hours just to do up the online paperwork for the kids and I.
Cheers... yes I definitely miss the place. My relationship with Japan's been tested by the whole child abduction thing. However, I speak the language fluently, have lots of mates over there and my visits are always pretty awesome. It's definitely one of the things I look forward to doing on multiple levels.

If it helps explain my attitude, I don't really get on with other 'left behind parents' as most hate Japan and wanna somehow get back at their ex. Most will wanna punch me in the head (I've been called 'weak' and 'one of "them"' many times) because I encourage people to learn Japanese and not get angry at their child's step dad (wasted energy and could get you banned from Japan if you're a big enough d!ck). Many are male rights activists who speak no Japanese and hate Asian women... when people start hating like that, the downwards slope gets slippery really fast IMO. I'm really glad that I never went down that path as there's some really bitter people out there.

There's a lot for me to like about the people and culture. I always look forward to visiting and love to go there remembering with an upbeat attitude because that's what my daughter deserves really. I can't do anything but love her country and hope that it'll look after her.

thanks AW, yeah I have battled back somewhat lol.....but still not at what I was before the vaxx....

I have played very little touch at all late last year and this year. But I been on the training paddock the past couple of months with the oldie hasbeen rep squad I am a part of.......we go around looking for any fields which drain well. We missed a few due to the weather but a few of the parks around Pagewood at also near Sydney Rowers club on the other side of Sydney drained really well. Once we trained on the beach at Maroubra when it was too wet to train on the grass. At Queens Park tomorrow arvo for the last hit out before Coffs.... Its a fair hike from the Gong but a good bunch of guys, similar age to me who love to throw the footy around still......

Will be up at Coffs for the NTLs in about 10 days if the weather allows for it and I am fit enough lol.......btw are you gonna be up for that one as a ref or a player?

The world needs more men like you Ism..

There is nothing worse than a man who rubbishes or continually tries to gaslight the mother of their child no matter how awful a breakup may have been, even years later. Be dignified and respectful as you say. Without the mother, there would be no child in the first place.

What did they do to you RT?

I just had chicken and chips in your honour for lunch and AC/DC's 18 minute version of Let There Be Rock came up on my shuffle...

My last two flights out of LA have both been delayed which means missed connections and zero phuks by that mob.

this time we sat on the plane for 4 hours… 4 bloody hours until departure! They gave nothing but a fun sized Kit Kat and a glass of water while we sat there as well. Kids on the flight were starving and they didn’t care. They lied about connection issues. They then went and made us wait another 5 hours in Sydney for our connection but prioritised the flight crew over paying passengers onto earlier flights.

total travel time went from 25 hours to just on 35 hours. With two kids, that’s impossible. We had an option of flying via Qatar with a total travel time of approx 35 hours yet chose to pay $4500 more with Qantas for what was meant to be the shorter trip.

after our return leg next week, I will NEVER fly this pathetic airline ever again.

Oh RT...I am so sorry...right when you and your children did not need this..

My sister and I had an awful time of it back in 2011 when we flew to London from Melbourne with Qantas. We'd paid a lot also and ended up being stranded in Hong Kong (sounds like a line from Khe San when I think of it but it was not funny at the time) and we were dumped onto an Air New Zealand flight in economy after we'd paid for premium economy with Qantas. That Qantas plane went back to Melbourne for some reason and we never did find out why..We missed our car service too at the other end at Heathrow as they had no idea what was going on. My sister has a lot of health issues and a hot temper to boot, so it was not pleasant.

But what you and your family have gone through when you should be looked after is not ok in this day and age. We were just travelling to visit my niece, not coming home for your dad's funeral so you should stick it to them in a complaint letter...I do hope the return trip will be less stressful..

                  Thanks.

I can’t complain about the issue that caused the plane to be delayed however they should check these things well BEFORE boarding, not after. Safety must come first however their handling of it is far from acceptable.

I had words with them on the plane while waiting and they were smart arses in saying they will always prioritise safety over schedule. I replied that other airlines prioritise safety while still staying on schedule. They had no reply.

it’s no wonder their airline world ranking has slipped well down to just inside the top 10.

we take every possible precaution when out and about to minimise any risk. We have been lucky and safe from it so far.

Gyms and cafes would not be my first choice venues still today as they are waaaay too communal. The risk us too high.

Anyway, I’ve got to head back to Aus on Thursday so will be doing a fair bit of travelling to and from and while I’m there so let’s hope I avoid it while mobile.

Hope you had a wonderful time with your daughter.

Hows the other relationship going? Hope you two are getting on again.

Since New York, death and music are current themes, I thought I'd note that a mate's uncle (a character) died today.

Careful not to dox too much, but he was a DJ (not short of a penny) who left Australia in (guessing) the 70's or so and essentially disappeared. In the late 90's he randomly re-appeared with a massive collection of crazy rhythm music.

I never knew his full story but he shared lots of his mixes (I'm listening to some now) that basically summarise his journey through NY during this period. I imagine that it involved a lot of beers, weed, pills and super chilled, lounge-style club nights.

Upon returning, he had an inner-Sydney pad (classy art deco place, 70's designer furniture/books/records throughout and ~240" views of the harbour). It was definitely an experience and he was never tight with his purse strings (would always shout you a $$$ dinner, buy a $$$ bottle of red and be very generous with his time).

Be surprised if a few people on here hadn't seen him randomly walking around as he was a prolific walker. Regularly I'd be hanging out ~15km away from his place and he'd just randomly be strolling past with a new bag of records in his hand. He definitely loved to walk, observe and suck in the feel of his surroundings.

Sad that he's gone (after some long-term struggles that I won't delve into) but I'm enjoying his tunes right now and reflecting on the journey that is life. Be interesting to know whether some of the clubs/cafes he frequented in NY have survived as I'm now super keen to go and try to track some down.

Mr and Mrs bb, 75 and 72, had our 3rd jabs in Jan.
Gonna have our 4th jabs soon, flu vax at same time.

At US Message Boards, in the Global section, in a sub section "Australia" , a thread was started the other day about an increase of about 40% in heart attacks in Qld.
There seemed to be a suggestion it could be related to Covid vaccinations.
During the mandatory hotel etc quarantines, and lockdowns, Americans were posting photos of people wearing striped pyjamas in concentration camps in Germany WW2 and saying that our Nazi govt was locking us up in concentration camps.

To get a booster or not...that's a good question.
We've had AZ each time, without major side effects...got AZ booster too...didn't mix them up.
I have a heart condition, AF, basically irregular heartbeat/ rhythm...so steered away from Pfizer as soon as I read 'heart' in the possible side effects. Nurse told me last time the risk of 'heart' possible side effects with Pfizer was greater in younger men.
Little lady who sits in the recliner has diabetes as underlying condition.

If we get Covid the Roosters could be minus two supporters.

We are "old people", lol ...saw a T shirt online...a not so young guy with grey hair wearing it..."It's Weird Being The Same Age As 'Old People'."
So we made decisions based on ...the health advice for our age and health problems...and all the risks with each different vaccine.

Canadian Health Minister got Bell's Palsy from Pfizer jab...from memory.
There are also possible side effects from AZ etc.

Who knows what's best, everything in life is a gamble.
