If it helps explain my attitude, I don't really get on with other 'left behind parents' as most hate Japan and wanna somehow get back at their ex. Most will wanna punch me in the head (I've been called 'weak' and 'one of "them"' many times) because I encourage people to learn Japanese and not get angry at their child's step dad (wasted energy and could get you banned from Japan if you're a big enough d!ck). Many are male rights activists who speak no Japanese and hate Asian women... when people start hating like that, the downwards slope gets slippery really fast IMO. I'm really glad that I never went down that path as there's some really bitter people out there.
There's a lot for me to like about the people and culture. I always look forward to visiting and love to go there remembering with an upbeat attitude because that's what my daughter deserves really. I can't do anything but love her country and hope that it'll look after her.
