Yeah, those beautiful places closer to Sydney get a lot more tourist traffic.

Further south is a little harder to get to. Mainly Canberrans and Mexicans from south if the border.

what area of Brissy you going to? The north side up on the bay is lovely.

      • You’d be jumping from one tourist hot spot to another there champ.

I find anything from Kiama to the Bay to be too touristy on a frequent basis for me. Narooma is on the cusp but Tathra is still a little too off the beaten track for most weekend warriors. Close enough to larger towns if you need anything as well. Had a good win on the Keno there one night!

            Stop calling Tathra ‘it’.

Yes even around Tilba Tilba is over run tourist wise. Love around Bermagui, and even further down around Merimbula, have to admit though haven't been to Tathra , drove from Tilba Tilba along the coast to Bermagui and Wapengo before heading back across to friends place in Bega so missed going to Tathra.

Have friends who have a part share in a pub at Tumut so going to drive down to Gundagai then across to Tumut, down to Yarrangobilly Caves then onto Bega and explore the coast there more, looking forward to doing that drive sometime.. The oysters down south are the best in the world.

Is that Huskisson? I’ve always wanted to check out that part of the coast there around Jervis Bay and up to Kiama. We always head further south to Merimbula, Narooma, Batemans Bay or further north to Port Stephens. I love Port Stephens, such a great place for a family holiday. We did a few holidays there and Merimbula when the kids were younger.

We love Merimbula Horrie. As I said in the post above, we had a few great family holidays there. Only a few hours from Canberra too so it’s a bonus with less travel time needed.

Its funny, only been to Merimbula twice, once was back in the late 70's but had friends who bought a property in Bega so after we stayed with friends in Mollymook a few years ago we decide to stay a week with them so explored around most of the area, even went down to Eden, love the coast from Narooma down and want to explore it a bit more over the upcoming years. Jervis Bay has a lot of natural beauty but i find Kiama is a bit of a hole, i drive down there a bit as have friends who live in Shoalhaven Heads and also Berry so always by pass Kiama.

Have to admit haven't spent much time in Port Stephens, i usually head further north to Port Macquarie and also a place called Grassy Head another hour further north. I love Port Macqaurie but now finding it getting busier so its lost a bit of its appeal for me, was thinking of retiring there and almost bought a property there about 12-13 years ago, would have been a steal price wise but i didn't want to get into more debt and now the horse has bolted price wise for affording property there, Grassy Head is a sleepy little hollow, nothing much to do there apart from going to the beach or lay by the pool, eat lots of seafood and drink to much, was heading there March just gone but the property got flooded so that's why we ended up in Orange at the last minute.

Gday MR yes Huskisson but Husky to us after 21 years .Stunning area really worth a visit but maybe not during the holiday season. We have travelled much of the east coast top to bottom and find from Kiama to Ulladulla leaving out that hole Nowra to be some of the most beautiful in the country .hence why we had to sell because of the noise from a nearby caravan park and we got extraordinary money we will 100% be buying in this area again but a quieter part. And maybe even a small holiday house in Sunshine coast near 3 of our Daughters

Yarrongobilly is a lovely place. Not sure when you plan to do it but don’t be shocked if the water or the pools are not hot or warm as advertised.

Tilba is a great little place but again, I try to avoid the other tourists so I try to be there off peak. Great little wood shop there and some lovely cheeses down the end at the old cheese factory.

Interesting what you say about Kiama. It's always good to get a wide range of opinions as it seems like a place with a lot to offer according to all the tourist sites. I had considered going to the Jamberoo water park when the kids were younger and tieing that in with a stay at Kiama. Maybe it's a good thing that never happened.

Yes I remember your abandoned trip to Grassy Head. I wonder if it's copping more rain there this week! The only time we stayed in Port Macquarie was as a stopover on the way back from a long trip to the Gold Coast. I was impressed and is another place I would love to go back to for a longer stay. That night a massive thunderstorm struck and a bolt of lightning struck around our accommodation and wiped out their internet connection! It was quite an 'adventure' as it felt like an earthquake at the time when the lightning hit the earth right next to us. I remember I was listening to the Roosters game on the radio and we lost power, which was probably a good thing as we lost. It was the depressing 2016 season.

Yes Huskisson, the place with the beautiful white sand beaches, so they say. You probably sold at a perfect time as the recent housing boom is probably going to taper off now with interest rates going up. We'll get there one day. With the kids growing up and the husband and I getting closer to retirement, I look forward to doing a lot more travel. As long as stupid Covid stays away and doesn't ruin all our travel plans. I also love the Sunshine Coast and had some great holidays there as a kid with my family. Great memories.

Yes would love to see some different caves apart from Jenolan, i have been to Wombeyan Caves once but that was in the 70's.Yes i have heard the thermal pool isn't as warm as a lot of people think, even my brother said it was just like swimming at an ocean beach in summer temperature wise, also heard from other people saying they are generally nice and relaxed after the swim there but the walk back up the hill from the pool has you all hot and bothered again. Still looking forward to Yarrongbilly when ever i get there, definitely wouldn't be winter though.

I find Kiama very over rated, sure it is quite nice by the water and there is the blow hole which attracts lots of tourists but its somewhere where you would expect nice eateries but they are really lacking but still its a lot nicer than Nowra which is a hole like 1908 pointed out.

Yes i really like Port Macquarie, sounds like your stop over there wasn't the best though. I was there quite a few years ago and it was just after one of the big floods, cant remember what year it was, the river was brown and the slick going out into the ocean went for miles, we had stayed at Grassy for a few days earlier but couldn't use the beach there because logs and all sorts of debris was washed up on the beach, we were having a drink at the Zebu bar which is on the river at Port Macquarie right in town and a brown snake went slithering past on the footpath out side and this young lady jumped several metres in the air screaming, it was quite amusing to see, her feet were pedaling mid air and gave everyone sitting near the windows a good laugh.
