  • No Chris Bailey thread?

He was an australian music legend.
Probably too young to go at 65.
Him and Ed Kuepper started something special in Brisbane in the 70's.

    One of my faves.

I'll contribute to your thread Eddie and I hope you are well.

I saw The Saints in Brisbane when they were on the same bill as Jimmy Barnes, doing his Working Class Man tour back in the 80's when I still lived in Qld. We drove down and back in the same night and the crowd went wild when they played Just Like Fire Would which Bruce covered:

The pub looks like the old 3 Weeds in Paddo back in the day but the old mugs sucking piss are definitely Queensland. "Stranded" and that one aren't too bad but the best thing to come out of Punk was the Rock-a-Billy revival imo. I watched a bio on Nirvana last week and those guys were dead lucky. Media can sell anything.

It is the old Rose Shamrock and Thistle. The Saints played Paddington Town Hall in '77. They must be Paddo old mugs then. Old mugs just the same - bet with a mate FGS!

I don’t mind (I’m) Stranded but don’t know too many of their others songs. Another sad loss for the music industry. The Saints were certainly one of the early punk pioneers.

Alas not.........life has become more of a challenge than ever before, but thank you for your thoughts, and I'm glad to see you posting again.
I'd like to urge my fellow Roosters not to take their health for granted.

I saw Jimmy Barnes on that same tour as well, but I was in Sydney then. Good days.

They certainly changed a lot since the stranded days.
Keupper left the band way back to pursue a different style, but to my mind they ended up similar to what he was doing in the end.

Thanks Eddie and I'll come back and post some more in the music threads on a regular basis. Yes I'm really meticulous about my health too and have lost over 40kg since being sick a few years back.

I hope you continue to post on here too so that we know you are ok. Music is my go to for when our spirits need to be lifted.

My favourite Jimmy Barnes song with Bernard Fanning on guest vocals (me being such a big Powderfinger fan, this version is a gift)

I may have to check out more of their music Eddie. I’m always looking to expand my music listening and knowledge.

Here is a good place to start MR:

Like you, I'm always learning too. I watch at least one music documentary every weekend and also read digital music magazines from the UK online via the Woollahra library website. MOJO & Classic Rock are very comprehensive. Most libraries now have this facility and mine has over 4,000 titles to chose from. Saves going to the actual library and having to put up with dog eared or outdated copies. Funny story though when I still used to go on Fridays after work..One of the librarians told me that when Malcom Young passed away, someone ripped out all his photos from the Rolling Stone they had...in Double Bay.... Very uncivilised...

Thanks RWB. My son bought me a Spotify subscription for Christmas. Well for 6 months anyway. Both my kids have decided I need to get with the 2020’s! So I’ve dumped iTunes for the time being and can now stream practically anything I want on Spotify. I’m loving it!

Enjoy MR! My niece's little ones (who are now actually not so little being almost 10 and 14) always send me Apple Music gift cards for birthday and Christmas.. She's got them listening to the likes of Bohemian Rhapsody in the car..

I also have been watching Classic Albums on SBS on Demand as they do a deep dive into the process of making a particular album:

Maybe some of their early stuff is a bit dated?
I know I used to like stranded when I was young, all my crowd were into that Ramones style of music.

For something new, check out the song I posted on the songs from your era thread................I think it might be to your taste.

I have so much music that isn't available on Spotify, lots of crazy remixes and extended tracks that are just not available on the streaming sites. Will have to subscribe to one of the services though when we get a new car, currently the old car still has the CD player in it and no option to be able to put an external input into it or bluetooth anything.
