I know what they're like, I taught them for years and most people are indifferent to thought especially when some effort is required.

No my philosophy is just to look at how things go down. For example you would have believed, and possibly acted on, Howard's promise that there would never, ever be a GST only to find that one came along which had you paying 10% on all goods and services whereas before, as a pensioner, you paid no tax. You paid the same tax in that respect as Mr. Murdoch (Oh sorry, probably not, he doesn't pay much tax. The Libs gift him money). The GST is just one example of the Libs representing the interests of the rich. It's their Party after all. The fact that they get away with it time after time is remarkable but having a monopoly Media onside certainly helps.

Common sense is bullshit - what does it mean other than what I said re looking closely at something like the GST and the like. Otherwise it's believing bullshit and propaganda and being proud of that.
Similar to Juliar's promise of no carbon tax, or Hawke's 'no child shall be living in poverty by 1990'.

      What great recollections.

Though I think you should vote Greens Pugsly. They are campaigning for free dental to be bulk billed under Medicare. Might be able to fix that underbite of yours?

Who could forget that faithful liberal servant and longest ever serving government minister of 21 consecutive years (and oversaw the introduction of conscription as National Service minister under Menzies) and then finally ascended to the top office and became PM.. what’s his name?

        Aahh, that’s right Billy McMahon!

He was once referred to by fellow liberal leader and eventual pm Malcolm Fraser "he had an insatiable ambition [...] he wasn't immoral, he was totally amoral".

I like to remember him as knockabout prankster such as the time he attempted to steal a tape recorder from a radio station by claiming ownership of the device despite it having the radio station's name engraved on it.

Veteran journalist Laurie Oakes described him as "totally unworthy individual and the fact that he was Prime Minister of this country was a disgrace".

        What a guy! Sound familiar?

Huh.....not similar, nothing like. And what would a carbon tax have meant to you? It certainly would have put Oz a long way ahead of where it is now in reducing emissions but to an average punter? Well a better future for their grandchildren might be one. On the other hand, Murdoch has assured you that Global warming is bullshit and he's obviously your bible.

You're another champion of the rich and their interests wth fcuk all basis for being so. Why would the interests of polluters, most of them multinationals, trump a cleaner environment for ordinary people in your estimation? A small businessman could explain it. The petty bourgeoisie whose days are so hard scrabble that they resent with a passion anything they see as progress for working people and minorities- unions, higher wages, the Woke movement.

It was Hitler's constituency - resentful, greedy and ignorant whingers and we've got plenty among us.

The climate is always changing ...ice ages come and go.
            Australia's carbon emissions are negligible.
Anyone who thinks we should ruin our economy with a carbon tax...that's TAX...can close our coal-fired power stations now, can change to electric vehicles now...needs to have a serious rethink.

Those lines are at least 5 years out of date BB. You're fighting a battle that's been lost already. The true mark of a conservative.

I'm voting Green, first preference ALP Count, They're the only real hope for change. A Murdoch editorial 10+ years ago declared war on them which means that anything News says about them is totally unreliable. If Murdoch loathes them so much, they must be doing a lot right. Libs last of course. Hopefully I'll be seeing the last of the Palestine persecutor, Dave Sharma and the rest of what has to be the most incompetent Tory bunch yet and that's sayin' something.

Just as true as the day they were written.
Should be fun watching Albo trying to crank up local manufacturing using solar panels and wind mills.

The percentage of Carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere is 0.04%.
Of that 0.04%, anywhere from 3.6% to 5% is produced by humans.

Yes. Seems Alan Jones was correct:
"(man-made) Climate change is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind."

                  Want cleaner air?
Sure, no more diesel, and petrol/oil, coal pollution, ...would be great.

Saw Ms "there will be no carbon tax under the govt I lead" Gillard on tv news tonite, campaigning with Albo.
Her own Party dumped her from being Prime Minister and replaced her with K Rudd...having previously dumped him in favour of her.
                    Rudd, Gillard, Rudd...oh I have a headache.

I should have read your next post before responding. There you go, the ‘great’ Alan Jones thinking he can bamboozle people with maths which makes no sense in order to convince us he knows what he’s talking about.

I assure you that regardless of who wins the vote tomorrow, nobody will scrap medicare.

Which reminds me..............despite your waffle, insults and history lessons, you have failed to allay my fears on labours economic responsibility.
I've got to shuffle off and cast my drop in the ocean tomorrow and I remain undecided.
I really haven't lived in this electorate long enough to make an informed choice.

Lol Eddie. I’ve learnt with Paddo, you can never win a debate. You either get a lecture or ignored.

I’m not so sure there will be change. Better the devil you know in uncertain times and all that. Labor couldn’t win the so called unlosable election last time. Just an objective opinion of what I think might happen in case a certain poster gets any ideas about giving me a two paragraph lecture.

He’s too busy to respond to your requests ma’am.

He and is grandson are out defacing Mike Cains electoral placards donning him with a top hat, cigar, monocle, glass of whisky all accompanied by an award winning soft rind cheese, complete with its distinct ripe odour.
