        Close....Townes Van Zandt.

Steve Earle (one of my fave artists, seen him 4 times live I think) named his son Justin Townes Earle after Townes. JTE tragically lost his life at age 38 from a suspected accidental drug OD. Was lucky enough to see JTE a few times too, a huge talent in his own right.

Welcome to my thread Jack..you will class it up and keep the riff raff out (see what I did there, guitar pun humour )

My first trip back to Warwick after living in Sydney for a while always reminds me of Steve Earle. I'd gone out with all my old school friends who introduced him to me via this song (because it wasn't played in any of the clubs on Oxford St in the 90's I had no idea who Steve was, worlds not colliding)

This is just heaven. I know I've posted it previously somewhere else. This is Tina Arena, Jimmy Barnes with American guitarist Joe Bonamassa as featured player. Don Walker wrote the song:

Can't beat Chuck Berry whom all R'n' R guitarists reference in one way or another. No Particular Place to Go - a brilliant rolling guitar solo of a song.

Didn't think much of the Stones until I heard their Chuck style "Down the Road Apiece" then I knew that they were a great rockin' band.

Thank you for actually posting some SRV. Big Dog and myself decided we just wanted to keep posting axemen.

Here is a Prince masterclass..he played over 20 instruments but guitar seemed to be his passion..heavily influenced of course by Jimi Hendrix who always fascinated me as a child. When I was around 5, I'd always reach for a vinyl compilation my sister had with him and Jeff Beck on it..not many nursery rhymes for me..
