  • The Travel Thread

Now that the international borders are open again, time to get off the sofa people, put on some shoes and pack a bag! Some of us may also need a haircut..

Also in honour of Rented Tracksuit going to the US & Canada, here is a good place for everyone to post any travel adventures, past or future. I know many of you are world travellers, so feel free to share.

Canada is on my list for when I retire at age 70 . (no, it's not this year for those of you who think I really am that old..) as it's easy to get around, civil, polite and clean.

Looking at going back to London in October 2023 ( I like to stick around in case we win more premierships) and up to the north where I've never been.

Tasmania is also somewhere I've been wanting to go for a long time so maybe Easter 2023.

Have booked a week away in Darwin in August which will include Kakadu and Litchfield National Park, will be interesting to get away from this cold to the heat flies and mozzies. Using part of the Virgin credit i had from cancelled covid flights, interesting, flying up with Qantas which is direct and cheaper than coming back with Virgin which is not a direct flight, still though using the credit for part of it so not to bad.

Hopefully in November will have two weeks up the mid north coast depending on the weather, if not may just spend a few nights up at Narrabeen on the northern beaches, stayed up there last November for 5 nights and it honestly felt you were away from Sydney, happy to repeat that again to just recharge the batteries.

I’d like to resurrect this thread for all people wanting to discuss lost baggage (my wish) and travel experiences.

I’d also like to send redwhiteblue a festivus cheerio.

Well my luggage was finally found late yesterday. Now I can focus more time on renovating the house I had to save for as a single woman in the 90s! I spent several years living in a granny flat paying the landlady cash in hand, so she could avoid tax. I was eventually given a home loan after the bank I previously worked for rejected me on the grounds of being single and not having enough deposit. My house is now worth nine times the amount I paid for it. It just goes to show how ridiculous the housing market is these days! And as I said in that other thread, I have no idea how my kids are supposed to afford a house in todays’s market. I have had discussions with the eldest about this topic on many occasions.

Member, you also resurrected the wrong travel thread but I’m sure you did that on purpose.

What? Do you think I resurrected the wrong travel thread on purpose?
You probably also believe in fantastical theories such as god and Santa

Well of course. Santa got me my luggage back just in time for Christmas. Now I won’t have to bore you with all the finer details while derailing the wrong thread.
