Oh Horrie, he sounds like a real nightmare. I know the type well both from a team member perspective and as a supervisor. I suggest he needs some serious counseling from management or be moved on. It’s not fair on other team members.

It is an absolute nightmare MR, when you think you have seen just about everything working in the retail industry for 40 years something new just comes along and blows your head completely. I noticed this person now when the store is about to close whether it is 8 pm or 9 pm depending on what night , instead of closing the door he just turns out the most of the lights and leaves the door up while he attempts to count the floats , i did say attempts as it is never counted or properly counted, perfect time for a hold up doing things like that. He has already been given warning twice for not clocking out yet he continues to do it . He said he left his last job because his boss was racist, i'm really starting to think he was sacked for being lazy and not following company policy.

Anyway enough of that, i don't wont to be derailing the travel thread with work problems or matters.

      • I nearly had a heart attack today when I received an email from Singapore Airlines saying ‘we regret to inform you there have been changes made to your flight itinerary…’ I then read further down and noticed our flight from Singapore has been delayed by 5 minutes!

Mighty Rooster the pre flight day updates are fine, the fun starts though on travel day and hopefully avoiding late minute delays which do happen. Hope all goes smoothly.

Thanks Jack. It’s now six months to go so still a while but at the same time it’s now close enough to start getting really exciting. Small changes in the flights I can handle but a change of actual dates would be a pain and mess with the itinerary. You’re right about delays at the last minute though, that would make me very anxious and irritated.

            • Really stalled on our plans at the moment, the first time i have had to pay for accommodation in London so picking a budget and area to stay is mind boggling at the moment.
Looked into changing our airfares to shorten the trip a bit but changing it was at least $500 each ( which i knew it would ) so still doing the full 7 weeks, still deciding on how long in Greece and what islands to go to or nix off the list and also maybe a shorter time in Greece and staying at Sitges in Spain or a few extra days again in London before flying back to Sydney just in case we miss some of the things we wanted to do in London on the first leg of the trip.

London was the hardest place to find accommodation for. Not just because of the cost but just the overwhelming amount of options to choose from beginning with deciding on the best location to base ourselves from. It took me forever and I’m still not convinced it’s the right choice. Hope you can make some more progress soon.

The annoying thing was that a friend of ours who spends a lot of time between the UK and Australia over the years, we hadn't seen each other for about 6 years, ran into him the other day as he was back staying in Paddington here and he said he would have let us stay at his house in Kengiston London but he rented it out about 6 months ago as he is looking to return to Australia full time in the next 12 months or so. Bugger because Kensington would have been a great location.

At a place near Waterloo Station and the London Eye, so Southbank. The location is close to all the main sites but it will be harder getting to and out of London as it’s more complicated connecting to the Heathrow Express / Elizabeth Line for access to Heathrow. Originally I wanted a place closer to Kings Cross or Covent Garden but those places were either really expensive or didn’t have what we wanted.

Kensington would be a great location too, and even better if you don’t have to pay for it. It’s a shame that didn’t work out for you. London is just so expensive. It’s where we are forking out the most on accommodation. I try to look at it as, well it’s London, one of the greatest cities in the world and we see it as one of the main highlights of our trip, so if we want to experience it we’re just going to have to cough up the money.

Looking at a couple of places around Soho and Covent Garden at the moment but not going to rush into it.

Luxury Escapes had a great deal at the Royal Horsesguard hotel at Whitehall right near Embankment , the deal was closing just a we started planning the trip but could have got for 6 nights for about $2,700 Aus which was a bargain for the quality of the hotel and location, it is about that price there for 3 night now.. Will keep looking but don't think we will find anywhere that good and for that price either

                              • So far we have worked out after landing at Heathrow
6 nights in Brighton then 2 nights in Arundul , after Arundul there will be 6 nights in London before 8 nights in Scotland, 7 of those on an organised tour, after Scotland 8 nights in Italy, another organised tour starting in Florence then Rome, Sorrento, Capri and Pompeii then leaving from Naples to Santorini, have 14 days till departing from London so will fill in the dots re Greek Islands or other spots, islands on the short list are Paros, Follegrandos and Milos. have not been to Greece or the Greek Islands since 2000, having lunch next week with friends who spent a few weeks in Greek Islands about 6 moths ago so interested to get feed back from them.

Want to try and and squeeze in the Isle Of Wight in while in the Brighton/ Arundul leg of the trip also.
