Oh now I can't remember if you told me that before! It is almost identical to what we are doing with our self drive itinerary only in reverse. For us Inverness (with visit to Culloden), Isle of Skye, Glenfinnan, Fort William, Loch Lomond, Stirling, Edinburgh. Then on to York England by train and using the trains from then on.

I had what can only be described as an unbelievable time in Glasgow Went there after leaving Edinburgh in what were really sad circumstances So I ran amok in Glasgow and met a lot of well connected people in the club scene

I ended up leaving getting on the last coach to Inverness on a Sunday night when the plan was to get the 1pm coach but I met a couple of interesting Irish fellas who were fighter pilots and had a heavy session with them God knows how long I’d have stayed on Glasgow had I missed that last coach that night

Inverness was a weird and beautiful place Weird in that the town centre was full of young people on the streets pinned off their head on heroine But the scenery there and it’s surrounds were beautiful Make sure you drive around the highlands outside of Inverness It’s simply stunning

The only thing i really remember about Glasgow was driving into a petrol station that displayed a good price for petrol outside but the prices at the bowser was different, they were just in the middle of changing the prices so drove straight back out.
Yeah looking at the tour we will be going through the highlands outside Inverness.

The few things i remember about my short trip to Scotland back in 1993 was must have been staying at a B&B in Perth our host took us to a little village called Methven as the person i was travelling with had grown up in Methven New Zealand. The B&B breakfast was amazing, al;ways happy when i have black pudding.
Seeing snow on Ben Nevis was amazing as was the country side driving towards Fort William, stayed at what was like a big manor house just outside Fort William and the host looked like Mr Bean.
Wandering around Urquhart Castle was amazing right on the loch.
              Edinburgh was freezing.

Have photos from the trip in an album in storage, i should scan some and put the on computer.

You are getting me excited Horrie. Did you try haggis? I’m curious but will have to do my best to forget where it comes from while eating it.

We’re spending 3 night in Edinburgh as there’s so much to do there.

Top city MR I had a great time there even if it did initially end in sad circumstances

I was glad on my way back down I came back for 2 nights and caught up with people at the hostel I stayed at as I left suddenly without telling people

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever go back to these places I’d always intended to but as I get older there are other places I haven’t been to that I’d like to see I think the only thing that will get me back is one of my best friends whom I grew up with as a kid lives in London So I do want to visit him there and from there who knows where I end up in UK

No didn't try haggis and doubt that i ever would.Funny though i love black pudding and if you knew the origins of it it you wouldn't eat it but i had it a young age so was familiar with the taste before i knew the origin, its something i don't have often but love it when i do have it.
The big thing that was in when i was there was deep fried Mars Bars, still one thing i have never tried and i have no desire to try one either.

It sounds like you spent quite some time in the UK when you were younger. I hope you get the chance to go back one day, but like you said as we get older we start thinking about wanting to visit places we’ve never been to before. Which other places do you have in mind? I’ve always wanted to go to Japan as well as I studied Japanese all through high school and at uni.

Yes I’m wary of black pudding too. Deep fried mars bar sounds er…..interesting. I really can’t imagine how that works.

I really don’t think I can bring myself to try it but I see all these YouTube clips and read all these travel blogs of tourists who give it a try and claim it’s not as bad is it sounds. To me it sounds disgusting though.
