Can virtually fish off the balcony where we are staying on the Stuarts Point arm of the river, a couple of bream for the BBQ would be nice and the river there is also a good flathead and whiting spot.
Will call into the co op near South West Rocks while up there to get some whole Pearl Perch or fillets and some fresh prawns also.

Also will have dinner here one night, might even stay overnight before or after the cabin as they have a nice self contained cabin and a good dinner deal combined.

            • So nice to settled in in a cabin on the river for the next week. While it was fun catching up with in laws at Dungog and Taree then staying at a nice stone cabin at Hot Myrtle it is finally nice to be unpacked and not having to move around much for a week. Was just in the river having a lovely dip and thinking the last time i have time off for holidays so deep into December was 1980.
Also daydreaming in the water about next break away which will be around Feb / March time wise depending on a couple of medical appointments which i cant miss. At the moment plan to drive down to Tumut and stay a few days/ nights at a friends pub, visit Yarringobilly caves then drive through the snowies down to Bega and spend time around there and a bit further south before making our way back up the goat track which is the Princes Highway with many a stop between Eden and Ulladulla.

                That’s my world Horrie.

Was there just last week. Took a couple of days fishing. Did it on the run. Canb to Merimbula via Cooma in the morning. Fished the bridge at Merimbula for an hour with no luck so nipped up to Tathra for lunch and a fish off the warf. Hooked onto some very large salmon and had a ball wrestling with them on light gear. When they went quiet about an hour and a half later, we headed up to Bermi for a swim in the Blue Pool then took the short drive through Wallaga Lake and into Narooma for the night. Grabbed a pizza for dinner and ate it while watching the seals playing in the channel.

Up early the next day for a charter. The kings haven't quite turned up yet so we went to the snapper grounds up off Tuross and were rewarded with a great haul of good sized bump heads and mowies. We also drifted the sandy bottom on the way back for a good bag of flatties.

A great couple of days with my boys!

That sounds great Renty, great that you got away with your boys. Im really hoping to get down that way and will start planning it when i get back from this trip, i have to work around a couple of medical appointments in Feb and March.
i also want to head up a bit further north some time to, up to Evans Head and around that area, havent been there for many a year.
Now even though i only have a small estuary rod with me i took it down to the surf beach this morning and with fresh pippies i managed two bream, not huge but legal size and beautiful clean ones so will be nice in foil on the BBQ.
Going to try the river later today.

Hope you will be feasting on Snapper, flathead and morwong for a while. Just went into South West Rocks to get some prawns and oysters, also got a couple of pearl perch fillets, not much whole fish in the co op except for some small flathead and some nice looking leatherjackets and one single lonely looking morwong. Where i got the pearl perch fillets from at the local butcher had mangrove jack fillets which is interesting as i thought you could not commercially sell them because of a similarity to one of the reef fish which has the ciguatera poisoning.
Anyway fresh bream from the surf for dinner tonight, going to go to river later with some of the prawn heads and try my luck.

Think isms beach house is further south again somewhere between Ulladulla and Batemans Bay.
stayed down at Berry a few weeks ago and stayed at friends who had just built a new house there, it was a sticking hot weekend so mainly stayed in their air conditioning drinking nice wine although did wander up to the pub for a nice refreshing beer and also went for a swim at Seven Mile Beach.

Would love to go to Mollymook one year. And Huskisson. One coastal place I really love is Port Stephens. We had a few family trips there over the years.
