Seeing we aren't going up for our annual trip to Grassy Head this March due to work being done on the property we stay at at the moment i am thinking this November of driving up to friends at Brisbane or other friends at Tweed Heads and then just slowly working our way back down the coast staying at places like Evans Head, Iluka, Grassy Head/ Stuarts Point and Port Macquarie. Would most likely drive up the New England Hwy and stay with friends at Tamworth then either head straight to Brisbane or Tweed for a few days then meander back down the coast.

Oh Horrie I love Evans Head Spent many a weekend there when I lived on Gold Coast Always felt very conscious of sharks when I surfed there though

PS You know I am really glad I rehashed this thread the other day I knew it had potential

Spent many a family holiday at Evans Head when i was young, we would even get the train up to Casino to get there before my father owned a car. My uncle had a fishing trawler there and i remember going out once with him on it and you could see the sharks not far from the breakers while people were surfing.
So many great memories of pumping yabbies/ pink nippers in the river and catching bream, flathead and whiting there and also one day catching some nice blue swimmer crabs that were being swept down the river from the rain one time, just scooped them out with the landing net.Think the last time i had been to Evans Head was 2009 or 2010 so time for a re visit.

Where in Brissy Horrie? I’ve got another place on the North side up on the bay. It’s my little piece of paradise.
The quickest run up is obviously the coast road after finally finishing the duplication but the inland roads are good for a change as well. It’s a shithole but I like stopping and overnighting in Moree when I go the Newel. Relaxing at the artesian baths is so good.

Camp Hill is where our friends live in Brisbane. Most likely will fly up and stay with them for a while at some time instead of the drive but driving up still a possibility although it would most likely to our friends at Tweed Heads, they used to have a property at Pottsville then at Kingscliff which were great to stay at but now they are in a high rise at Tweed and not sure what it is like.

One time we drove up the New England we went as far as Tenterfield then made the way over through Casino and Lismore towards the coast, i think this time if we go via Tamworth and the New England we would go across through Ebor and Dorrigo and come out at Bellingen, that is if the road isn't closed between Dorrigo and Bellingen, it has been been closed on and off the last couple of years due to land slides, it is a spectacular drive though when the road is open and the water falls are flowing.

I get that but I always enjoy a nostalgic trip through my old haunts.
