  • Favourite rave anthem

There's gotta be a few ravers on here. What was your favourite rave and what was your favourite rave anthem?

I never touched the disco biscuits but I enjoyed a good rave back in the day (followed by a hard, Sunday morning training session, which I'd drive directly to from the said rave).

    My answers:
    - Favourite rave? Forget the name but they did one at Sega World that was pretty grouse. Went there with some Italian girls from Maroubra and had a blast (they all ditched me for some full hectic lebbos coz I was a nerd, but I was pretty happy enjoying the rides & eating lotsa sherbet... ended up playing D&D at ~4am afterwards with some randoms at an upstairs gaming shop in the CBD).

    - Favourite tune? I was into trance for a while. Nu-Energy - Dreamland was a solid trance tune back in the day. For Happy Hardcore, Interactive's version of Forever Young had some decent value.

I went to some cracking raves in the old warehouses of Alexandria. The disco biscuits were really good. I couldn’t remember any of the names of tunes to save my life.

Whaaat? I thought you were a massive raver, bruh!

Google '90's rave anthems' and you'll get a fair idea. Basically big happy hardcore / trance tunes that would have ravers jumping about to while off their chops on disco biscuits.

Lyrics generally don't contain swearing and obscenities. More commonly there's some sorta soppy, over-used description of love / nature / emotions. A quick web search suggests that if you 'pick up any Back To The Old Skool comp... you’re going to hear Sweet Harmony, Out Of Space, Let Me Be Your Fantasy, Trip II The Moon or On a Ragga Tip'.

So yeah think... low-grade, high-pitched, female vocals shrieking out any of the above, with lotsa weird filters/effects going on. If you're lucky... they'll stop the tune just before a thumping beat comes in so that you can keep the ravers hanging.

Lol....I guess it passed me by, I was way too busy in the 90's.

On the subject of anthems............did you know that the words to the Gilligans island theme tune fit perfectly when sung to Advance Australia Fair?
            And vice versa.

Yes they are as it happens. Although you did forget to add units to it. But you do get the picture of how that area has changed

I wasnt really into the rave not disco biscuit scene but I went to a race once.......

I had a few friends who were ravers. A bit of a story like Jizz, chicks I knew dragged me along with their friends, it was a fun night then morning but not something I would do again lol......

I wouldnt have a clue of the title of any rave anthem either lol......
