If it were Russian, Chinese, or North Korean military secrets, he would have been the victim of one of those unfortunate "accidents" well before this, which tends to happen to those these despot regimes see as some sort of opposition - whether real or not.

Dare I say, I suspect he turned a corner when he saw Russia signing deals with North Korea and refusing to leave Ukraine.

I suspect he's a little bit smarter than Snowden (who's just a bitter see you next Tuesday coz he grew up in a military family & couldn't handle the fact his epilepsy meant he couldn't be deployed to Afghanistan) and has realised that it's time to just plead guilty and return to Australia rather than spending your life as a refugee in Russia... suffering from delusions that they are anything but a barbaric dictatorship.

Time to put this all to bed. He's not a martyr for anything... he was a silly, self-styled whizz kid in the 90's who Russia's intelligence service propped up to be a serial leaker of (often heavily doctored) content intended to embarrass the US and its allies.

He's also not the spawn of satan - I suspect he THOUGH he was doing God's work as Iraq was shyte but this didn't make the 9/11 attacks or Russia/North Korea's ongoing hostility a holy alternative. (On that spawn of satan note, he was only ever facing ~5-10 years in prison though advocates loved ignoring the fact that a stack of relatively minor penalties can be served concurrently).

He's done his time and I suspect will now move on. For his own benefit (noting Russia might now see him as being a traitor and attempt to kill him) I hope that he can live a quiet life and focus on his family.

was ever convicted of rape in Sweden nor did he stand trial. That operation was clearly aimed at detaining him in a US client state.

Albanese is being criticised for meeting/greeting him, a now convicted "felon". Simon Birmingham would not then have greeted Nelson Mandela on his release. Not surprising as Howard was a White South Africa supporter. The truth is that the Americans were embarrassed and the Libs and many in the ALP will have none of that. After all, Wikileaks identified ALP members who reported regularly to the US embassy.


The Oz Sheeple are much moved by Wikileaks, whose drops get very little MSM analysis, and they admire Assange for his sheer hide and bravery. He should be treated as truth bringing hero that he is. Barnaby Joyce was among other Tories who gave support. It is not a Left/Right thing, It's about people having the right to know what governments are up to in their name and he accomplished that big time. He debunked the propaganda that we are constantly fed and hopefully that has sunk in.
