Living there meant i got to fish down at the wharf a lot and had some amazing catches over the year. Also at night when there was fog, the sonar to guide the ships in was so amazing and eerie to hear.

I loved the place We usually used to go Friday afternoons/evenings it was generally quiet so we got on all the rides quickly

I remember going once on a Saturday in 2015 after Broncos had knocked us out I’d had a pretty big bet on a horse and we were on the carousel as the race was on and I’m watching it on the phone holding the phone and as it’s taken the lead I’ve started riding it all the way home I got some very funny looks as we walked off the ride

We stayed there for ours that day got there at lunch time and didn’t leave until we’ll after dinner time

Ive had many a good meal at the Ho Won over the years and I still get dragged down to the Supa Centre at times to look at stuff which is really of not much interest but it is much easier for the general flow of life to go along with for the ride, after all there is always some shop worker I can earbash about something they probably have no interest in. I used to go to East Village almost every day I actually find it hard to go there these days as an overwhelming sadness seems to hit me that both My Father and Mother are gone and knowing Im not going back to what I will always consider my home just down the road

I went to Luna Park a few times when I was young. We never got around to taking our kids there but they did get a holiday to the Gold Coast and all the big theme parks there.

Used to get Ho Won a bit for lunch when i worked at Kensington, used to love their steamed dim sims, hadn't been there for a long while but started going there again a bit in 2017 when my mum was in Prince of Wales for a while, just felt like short soup yesterday and thought Ho Won would be good for it but ended up getting something just as good in East Village.

I know what you mean, when i walk around Paddington right near our home ground i get a tinge of sadness but also a bit of joy and happy memories of growing up there, i still feel more of a connection to Paddington for the almost 8 years i was there more than the next 12 years i spent at Kingsford.

The theme parks on the Gold Coast are great I went there quite a few times when I lived there I loved The Giant Drop and The Claw Whilst I got talked into going into it by my Neice I didn’t like that one where the people drowned I could see if those things tipped over there was real trouble

The one thing i loved about Luna Park is when we went as kids we used to get the old wooden Hegartys ferry from Circular Quay across to the wharf ( Sydney Ferries didn't run services way back then ), i used to use most of the tickets up on Coney Island, the ghost train and my favourite the River Caves. My father took me on the big dipper once, would have been 6 or 7 at the time, not sure who was whiter when we got off. Unfortunately Luna Park was never the same after the ghost train fire and i remember when they were auctioning off the items in 1981 i was going past in the ferry from fishing at Kirribilli and they had the carousel running , it was the first time it had operated since the fire, sadly lots of the history was sold off that day.
Even though it re opened years after the fire it had lost the charm that i remember warmly as a kid. The last time i went on any of the rides there was when the Roosters had a seasons launch there back in 2010 .

I remember going on that ferry when I was a kid I thought the thing would sink I only went to Luna Park once pre The Ghost Train I remember more of being shit scared on that ferry going to and fro than the actual park.

Although I wasn’t there I remember the season launch there in 2010 I hadn’t joined as I was fixing a place and planning to live in it at Port Macquarie Lighthouse Beach at the time Got the place fixed but things didn’t work out as planned

You know what, we did that holiday in 2016. The kids and hubby did all those extreme rides because I’m a wuss. The only ride I did was that one that had the tragic accident later that same year! The kids wanted me to do one with them and so I chose that one. I did a few of the tamer rides at Movieworld with them as well and they love to remind me how I kept squealing on one of the so called lamer rides. With Luna park, I remember as a kid going on the Octopus and those big slides inside.

                    • Oh and the ghost train. I remember that happening in the news as a kid. I watched a documentary about it a few years ago and I truly believe the whole thing was a disgraceful cover up by the corrupt NSW government at the time.

The old wooden ferry still ran when i was living at Kirribilli and still was running i think into the early 2000's, got to know some of the ferry drivers when i fished on the wharves. It did the wharves at Kirribilli then onto Luna Park wharf then Lavender Bay and McMahons Point then back to the Quay, it was just a lovely relaxed ferry ride, i miss the old boats. I caught it quite a few times of a morning from Lavender Bay wharf across to Quay and a few mornings there was thick fog and the driver was playing some dramatic opera music and then suddenly the lights from the bridge came into view, you couldn't see the bridge from a 100 mtrs away and then it came into view, it was totally amazing experience.

Lol, i remember going to Movieworld with a group of friends from Brisbane, couldn't tell you the year now but most of the group went on one of the rollercoasters and a couple of us watched on, i felt almost like vomiting just watching the rollercoaster do all these twist and turns, there was no way i would get on it, the people were dizzy when they came off and i laughed but some of them wanted to do it again, after a break of course , not sure how many rides i went on but the only one i really remember was the Gremlins ride, you sat in a theatre watching movie bloopers which were fun then suddenly the screen rips open like the Gremlins are invading and you have to jump into a moving carriage ( just like a ghost train ) and the Gremlins are playing havoc along the way, what i loved the most towards the end was there were old movie posters on the wall which i loved including The Towering Inferno so in short i loved the bloopers and seeing the movies posters the most.

There was a book shop there at the time and i struck up a lovely conversation with lady running it and ended up buying two books on Bette Davis which i happily read some of in the car drive back to Brisbane, i kept in contact with this woman for a few years and got a few more books through her contacts.

That documentary was truly disturbing but so glad i watched it, the corruption from the bottom all way to the top was truly mind blowing and innocent people died because of it and then the relatives and friends of the deceased got treated like sh*t and given the runaround for so many years. I'm glad it came to light the full extent of the corruption and i hope it hasn't ended here even though the most of the named corrupt people have passed on now.
