After getting out for a walk today the rain has set in for a bit. Did chuck in a rod so may have a quick flick but will most likely have a flick when I go that further north at Stuart's Point than here in Port. The one spot where i like having a fish here, the creek that comes into the river just behind the shopping centre has major works going on along the banks so that is out, i usually just throw the line in around the bridge which also would give me shelter with the rain but it is out of bounds, it is a great spot for whiting.
Stuarts point is a lovely place. I used to spend time up at Yarrahapinni a few years back.

I’m sure you’ve heard this but they say if you count the seconds between the lightning flash and the thunder, it tells you how far away the strike is. Well that evening for us they both happened simultaneously. It sounds like your experience was the same.

The bananas grown around Yarrahapinni are in my opinion the best tasting bananas I have ever had, a lady near where we stay at Grassy Head used to sell what she had left over on the Monday after she had done the local markets on Saturdays and Sundays, Yarrahappini is the furthest south they commercially grow bananas.Last edited by horrie hastings; 10-24-2022, 04:07 PM.

Absolutely bucketted down here in Port late last night and in the early hours of this morning. Raining on and off now but not as bad as the early hours of this morning . Looking at the BOM map earlier looks like the worse has passed but looking further south Seal Rocks, Port Stephens and Sydney looked dreadful.

After yesterdays rain it cleared to a nice evening and awoke today to a lovely sunny day. Surf still treacherous to swim in and plenty of fresh water running out from the river giving the ocean a brown stain but managed to have a swim in the pool where we are staying and it was lovely, just hope tomorrow is just as good .

Nice sitting here watching the lightning out at sea and earlier watching it from Zebu bar right on the river.
28c predicted tomorrow so down to Laurieton or maybe over to the North Shore but the swell and run off make it looking like no swimming on any of the open beaches, some spots I can think of around the area which are protected so will check them out or otherwise happy to use the pool here at the accomodation.Last edited by horrie hastings; 10-25-2022, 10:56 PM.
