Looking ahead, it looks like the weather is moving into a familiar pattern for this time of year with a week of temps in the low to mid 20’s. March to late April is my favourite time of year until Anzac Day hits and it’s chilly cold all of a sudden.

Looks like it wants to rain / storm here, it is so humid. Went to the Kirribilli markets and bought some duck salami, sourdough and hot cross buns then jumped on the train to go a couple more stops and went for a walk around the Coal Loader at Waverton/ Balls Head before having lunch at one of the cafes, very pleasant day but nice to be back home now in the air conditioning.

The weather's frigging awesome today... did my 20km run into work today (via two popular bush trails) and it was the perfect temperature. Bagged myself a few PBs for the steeper segments of the run so that felt awesome too... always happens when the weather's good.
Had a short standoff with a kangaroo while running through a paddock (yes my suburb randomly backs onto some farms that are ridiculously close to the city centre)... still not sure what to think about that one. I hope it doesn't see me as a bully because it sits on that part of the trail and the alternative to it getting outta the way was me running through 1.5m grass (no thanks). I kept my distance and it eventually got the message but yes... I'm sure we'll meet again and continue this ongoing territorial dispute.
By far the highlight of the run was seeing the sun rise over black mountain tower when I reached the peak of my second mountain peak. I'm a bit of a fraud as a distance runner as I'm naturally a 400m sprinter who can keep up an alright distance pace, but prefers gunning it through segments. The climb up that mountain is one such segment... the combo of slightly cooler weather (without the storm pelting down) and the sunrise at the top was just frigging magnificent. Perfect start to the day and it motivated me to gun it for the rest of my run (getting me an overall PB) was magnificent stuff.
Respect goes to a few people who I saw along the way (I'm near the AIS so the number of current/former elite runners doing my trails is pretty dense for a small city). Dunno her name but a lady who looks about 65 (short and unassuming) was absolutely ripping it up my journey's longest hill (which I conveniently run down). SOLID as pace and no sign of exhaustion. Similarly there's this dude in his 70's who chugs along (think slow and steady) but I swear no matter what hour of the day I go out, I'm guaranteed to run into him somewhere along the way. Two great examples of why it's good to keep fit... when I'm that age I'd love to still be running up and down these trails (particularly when I've got more time to myself).

Just been for a walk through Sydney Park before heading into town for a medical appointment, definitely very warm when you are out of the wind but the wind still has a chill to it, where i walked in the park it was very predicted from the wind. Just having a light lunch at one of the St Peter's cafe before the appointment.

Did I say light lunch, the sandwich I ordered would have fed two comfortably, added to the fact the kitchen got something wrong with the order so gave us a bowl of sweet potato fries for the wait . Note to myself, next time just order one sandwich to share.Last edited by horrie hastings; 03-30-2023, 02:14 PM.
