That is a shame Horrie a trip to North Sydney Oval would have been nice. Mind you I rarely leave that 5 k radius we were under last year. Just about everything needed including some gorgeous Eastern Suburbs beaches are in walking distance. Currently still laying in bed after a very late night 4am conclusion but with the blinds open I can see it is a bright sunny day but it feels a little chilly. Undecided what to do today.

Would have been a nice day for North Sydney Oval. Funny how you talk about the 5km radius, when we had to adhere to that last year i would make up different walks around Marrickville, places i had already been to but would think of different ways to get there and back. With the 5km radius from my place that virtually wiped out all the beaches i would usually go to, the only two with in the 5km was a little dog beach in Blackwattle Bay / Rozelle Bay which i never swum at but walked around there a bit as the park and the walk to the fish markets were just inside the 5km, the other was the beach at the the old control tower at Mascot Airport, not the nicest beach because of the rubbish washed in but still it was a nice salt water hit when we couldn't travel, also found some nice yabby ( pink nipper ) holes there right near the runway if i want to go bait pumping.

Back in the day before the third runway was built at Sydney Airport you could walk along the beach on the old runway and the yabbies were plentiful along there and of course the bream would school up along there too but once the work started on the third runway access was stopped to the other runway and a great bait gathering and fishing spot was lost forever. Still some decent yabby flats around San Souci in the bay.

I’ve never collected bait or fished around there. The best place I’ve been yabbying is down south at Narooma. Huge flats FULL of yabbies. Love that place.

Botany Bay is patchy fishing wise but when its on its on, that said i don't fish the bay much but it is the closest place for me where i can get yabbies ( nippers ) for bait. Sydney Harbour has been my most consistent spot i have ever fished with many great catches over the years but you cant gather bait like yabbies or worms there. As for great yabby spots apart from Botany Bay i have only pumped for them up on the north coast and the northern side of the Hastings River at Port Macquarie right near the car ferry is one of the most prolific spots i have come across, sometimes i was getting 3 or 4 nippers per pump, definitely the quickest spot i have gathered bait like that and it has been the same over a period of years i have gone there. Also Evans Head was a spot i used to gather a lot of them when i was younger. Cant wait to get back to the fishing consistently again once i retire.

Looking nice outside at the moment, a little bit cloudy and wind is cool but will get out for a walk somewhere, most likely near the water somewhere , be nice to enjoy the sun after working 6 days straight. Supposed to rain about 5 pm so plenty of time to get out and enjoy the sun.

Pump em down at the bay and bring them up to the harbour. Might work?

The most consistent Sydney spot for me has been the Hawkesbury. I honestly don’t think I have ever missed catching something there.

Have done that before, pumped some nippers at San Souci in the afternoon then in the evening fished off East Balmain wharf and landed 6 bream, that was back in the 80's though. Have friends who have a house at Wobby Beach on the Hawkesbury River opposite Dangar Island, have scored some nice bream and flathead off their wharf but where they are is so snaggy so have lost a lot of gear there, watched two guys in a dinghy just off their wharf one day, they had hooked a fish and even the tide was running out the fish was dragging them against the tide, it seemed like ages till they got the fish to the boat, it was a huge jew fish, later when they came to shore a few house up the shore line, there is an old fishermans club there and they weighed it, it was 44 lb on the scales, ( 20 kilos ).

Where my friends are at Wobby the channel is deep and the tide runs fast along the shoreline there and perfect spot for jew fish, you can only get to their place by boat , they are almost in direct line with Dangar but on the eastern shoreline so no car access but you can do a very very long walk to Patonga Creek along one of the fire trails but i have never done it before.

I will just be happy to take my hand line down to the harbour and catch a few leatherjackets for dinner, will still chuck a line out there for a trevally or a plate sized snapper there also. Will clean up my rod and reels to take up the coast to places like Port Macquarie, Stuarts Point and Grassy Head to catch bream, flathead and whiting, hope to be spending a bit more time up there once i retire.

Lovely day today, was sunny but the wind was cool, ended up just going for a walk around Marrickville, went to Henson Park and did a couple of laps around the oval and sat in the sun. Sunsets have been deep orange lately but this afternoon, it was pink behind the grey clouds, looked stunning. Rain forecast for tonight and the rest of the week now.

A typical Canberra winter's day today. A frosty start, warming up to a beautiful 12 degrees, lovely blue sky and thanfully no breeze.

Yes definitely a chill in the wind today. Must have been a slight bit of rain over night as the car wind screen had water on it but the road was the dry. Was going to clean the last little
bit of mould off the ceiling that I found last night but had other things on my mind this morning.
