Expected be another frosty one tonight down to approx -5. The fire is already lit and the fur baby has already claimed her spot right in front.
My fur baby always plonks himself in my lap. The last few nights he’s curled himself up into as tight a ball as he possibly can, with the tail covering his nose.

we have an old fireplace that I only light a couple times a week for a bit of fun, it doesn’t radiate that much heat because it has a few broken elements to it, but it’s mesmerising watching the flames dance, and the radiant heat when close to it is so good.

Ours heats the lounge room which is rather large but does not heat the whole house. Ours is an open fireplace. I love getting the wood and chopping it up. The fruits of the labour are marshmallows around the fire after dinner.

        • I was up till 6am this morning Watching races at Royal Ascot on the tv along with the cricket on my laptop (what a great finish and intensely nerve wracking to watch ) At the same time I was talking to a mate in the Uk saying Fcuk me it is absolutely freezing here then later on checked the temperature at about 3am where it said 3 degrees feels like 1 Where I am in Sydney it doesn’t get much colder than that

Nice sunny day outside but once again very cold

Going to be cold at the football this Saturday and Sunday with twilight and evening games for the Swans and Roosters, will have to rug up.

                • I sat up till 1:00 in the morning until the tea break in the cricket. When I went to bed the heating was already coming on as the temp had already reached the thermostat limit I have set on the heating for overnight. It was minus 3 outside already!

Wow! In Canberra, you are brave. I don’t turn mine off day or night! The inside of my house feels like far north QLD!

I have to go outside shirtless just to cool down!

I set the thermostat to 15 overnight as I figure when you're in bed you don't need it on as much, but it does mean the heater needs to work harder first thing in the morning when everyone gets up. Only it was so cold last night the temp inside the house had dropped to 15 at 1:00am causing the heater to switch itself on.

Aw, my little mini foxie would be demanding to get inside and shivering. There’s barely anything of him so that doesn’t help.
