Well we’re supposed to be getting some much needed rain later today. It’s already quite humid and sticky.

As the world's best runner* I'm rarely phased by the conditions. However I thought I'd share the following experiences with my fans:
- Saturday last week I did a 15km tune-up (25km run with 15km at full pace and the remaining 10km at a chilled warm-up / cool-down pace). We were hosting a barbie in the arvo so I was like 'meh... just do it from 2pm... whatevz'. OMGGGGG! The temperature was 34'C and humid as!!! I STRUGGLED to maintain something close to my race pace for 15km and was gooooone afterwards.
- Sunday's 30km. was beeeeautiful. Champaign running weather.
- Monday off.
- Tuesday... split recoveries. My 10km lunch recovery was in 35'C heat with dry winds. Then at night the 6km recovery was the opposite (lovely cool winds). A net neutral IMO.
- Wednesday I did an 18km run (with 5x 1200m intervals at 5km race pace) at 4am (this enabled me to watch the balloons with my son, work a compressed office day and teach at the pool until 7:30pm). Beeeeautiful weather!!! Perfect conditions. Also NFI why but I'm okay running through dark parkland in the early hours of the morning but not late at night. Go figure!
- Thursday night I ran 23km at 11:00pm and it BUCKETED down!!! Absolutely BUCKETED!!! Also I dunno why but something scratched the back of my heel and my socks/shoes were DRENCHED in blood (I didn't even notice but my wife saw them the next day and was like 'OMG WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!?!?')
- Yesterday was 13km with 8 x 100m sprints in the middle. Aside from breaking the 100m world record on one of them there was nothing spectacular.
- This morning in the pool (I teach B2B swimming classes from 9am to 1pm) it was soooooo cold!!! Not much else to say there unless you wanna hear about the deflated size if my cojones after 4 hours standing around in a cold pool.
---
In short - this week was either blazing hot (dry heat), crazy wet, humid, freezing or peeeerfect. You decide!

By the way, the weather today was fantastic. Early Autumn is my favourite time of year in Canberra.

I plan to upgrade the ceiling insulation this year and then maybe look to get a new reverse cycle cooling / heating system at the end of the year. I can’t believe a tiny little lizard could cause so much damage. To buy a brand new circuit board would have cost about $1,500 installed!

Hope you're warm this winter. Also remember you can get those interest free loans on new units. We have a 60's house but insulated it and installed modern aircon units... IMO Canberra winters don't have to be cold.
