It’s been a battle trying to keep the gas usage down this week as the meter is due to be read in about 12/days and we’re headed for a record reading and bill. So the heating has been on a lower setting the past 5 days or left off at certain times of the day which means a not so nice cold house.

Gee thanks for that Horrie, I can hardly wait. I may just have to stay in bed a bit longer that morning, being a Saturday!

If the sun is out in Canberra, winter temps don’t matter.

Was great riding weather. Had a lovely outdoor patio lunch as well. Montreal smoked pastrami S/W and a side of traditional poutine.

Going to smash a 20 pack of Timbits now and undo all the good work.

              Funny thread, I like it.

Has anybody else noticed the deep orange/red sunsets and sunrises this year? It seems to be happening a lot more than I can ever remember, because I keep taking photos every few days of another beautiful sunset or sunrise, and I can’t remember doing that often previously, might be because I’m working on the National Library of Australia roof everyday.

The cold , the darkness and the howling winds.............will the snows never cease?
They seem to reach back forever.

Isn’t that from an old show called the Young Ones?

Back in the 80’s I think.

Yes i have, just about every time out our lounge room window the colour of the sunsets in the south west have been stunning, the deep orange i have noticed virtually every night, i think the better half gets sick of me saying come and look at this stunning sun set and then i get the comment, wow you are right. The pics i try to get with my phone don't do it justice. I have seen plenty of stunning sunsets from my place but i don't remember so many brilliant ones for so many days/ weeks in a row.

The other thing was getting up this morning and having hardly any condensation on the windows for once, hope this continues as i am sick of the dampness and want to air the place out.

I rented a place in the 90's which had rising damp and it was such a pain. Condensation all over the windows which led to mouldy window frames, walls and blinds. It was so hard to maintain in winter and alll the landlady would tell me to do was to open the window to let in ventillation, which I wasn't going to do in the middle of a Canberra winter! It was great in summer though as it felt like it was naturally air conditioned it was so cool inside. It was just a small flat which didn't get a lot of sun, and was at the back and base of the landlady's main house.

Wish we were home to enjoy these sunsets. Over the years we have had some spectacular sunsets looking from our back deck over the Brindies.

This year its the worse it been, the window frames have mould on them, the cornices in both bedrooms have mould on them, most of it wipes off easily but there is a bit of in grain now, will be painting the two bedrooms plus the small hall way and the bathroom when it warms up a bit, going to leave the lounge room and kitchen as they are not to bad and plan to get a new kitchen within the next couple of years so no point painting there yet.
Have been wiping down the shutters bit by bit but will do it properly once it is warmer. My leather jacket which i hang on the back of the bedroom door has mildew on it too. I have never seen it so bad as this year.
