  • More strong wind gusts here today. I really hate it as we have quite a few large gum trees on our property close to our house and the ACT government won’t let us knock them down.

Just checking MR, do you also have:
      - lots of plum trees
      - a sheep or two
      - a kangaroo
      - a clothesline out the back
      - verandah out the front
      - and an old rocking chair?

Have a few large gums along our driveway and even though i love them they move around a lot with the wind. Had council out a couple of years ago who looked at them and said we could take certain branches of them but couldn't get rid of them bar one which did have to come down.

Was walking home today from Newtown and walking through Enmore Park when a huge palm frond came crashing down on the path way only a couple of metres in front of where i was walking, another few seconds i might have been hit by it it.

Um…..nope, nah, yep the bush capital is full of them and sometimes I see them hop right past our house or when out walking the dog , definitely, definitely and not at all! And your point being …… lol?

It’s scary isn’t it and you’re very lucky there. I love trees too but this one is 3 times the height of our house. I’ve had government reps look at it but they say it’s protected and no risk of coming down. Canberra is full of gum trees being the bush capital and all and I love that about our city but they need to be out of residential areas IMHO. We also have a smaller black gum and it’s about twice the size of the house. I do love the shade they provide but I can guarantee when I check the local news later there will be reports of emergency services attending to several trees down in the community today and yesterday.

Haha….yes I know that song but since this isn’t a music thread I was wondering what it had to do with the current gusty weather I’m experiencing around here.

                    • Crazy warm weather here for this time of year.

Has been around the mid teens most of the week with today forecast to be sunny and 16. Will head over to DC for a walk around the National Mall. Just hope it’s not very busy as it’s thanksgiving weekend. Hopefully everyone has cleared out of town.

                            • We just had a massive hail storm, with lots of crazy wind and 5 good minutes of massive hail dumping. Luckily it was only small sized hail though. Apart from that it’s been another warm day.
