Getting onto the plane to Japan at 9:00pm (currently roughly 8:30pm... negative COVID test and all despite me being highly alert of ghost symptoms all week and getting all anxious about a positive).

Thought I'd keep you all updated as these visits are always a big journey. Had a nice Peroni and a beef burger while waiting (wasn't bad) and read my son 3 chapters of Billy Bunter from the airport.

Hopefully I'm a little bit more successful that Fergo.

Pretty sure Jizzy has created this thread to keep us updated on his travels and to ease his travel nervousness by letting his concerns out on here so pls don’t turn this into a ‘RAGE’ at 2am type thread and keep it on point out of respect.

Arrived, checked-in and I've got my mobile SIM now so can run amok online once more.

Taking a bus to the domestic airport terminal now (plane to Komatsu and then driving from there).

Bus felt a bit weird. Lotsa Singaporeans trying to jam on in breach of COVID protocols. Driver got me to do an English translation of the directions. It was somewhat gratifying converting being able to convert a polite instruction that they were all ignoring (woulda understood it 100%) into a big wog dude with an Aussie accent yelling 'OI GET OFF, THE BUS IS FULL!!! NUP, IT'S FULL MATE!!! BYE!!!' They all had those squeaky, fake American accents [and kept saying they only spoke English + didn't understand the driver] so it was oddly fun giving them a serve in 'Strayan English. IMO the airport should hire me to do this full-time.

Really close actually... Fukui prefecture's adjacent to Ishikawa prefecture (Fukui's to the south) and I use Komatsu airport as my entry point (in Ishikawa prefecture).

Currently sitting in a 'visitation' where the step-dad's leaning over us, refusing to let us take pictures, saying 'NO!' to the presents I brought and creating an awkward silence for us all. He always does it... and it's not on the court order that he's supposed to be present.

Mixed emotions ay. So much beauty and I'm glad to be here but TBH this visitation has been a complete bust. It's difficult to get a word in and the step-dad sets this mood as if it's somehow invalid of me to be here. Every time somebody asks what's going on he'll assert that he's the father. The farking mug (who's shorter than her now, lolz! Like I was, she's a 6-foot 13 year old) even tried to dye his hair the same brown as her hair in order to claim it's from him when asked. World's most punchable face I swear... but I'll continue to be calm and friendly. Just hope it's all worth it in the long-run and she knows that I care.

Haha it's good mate.

An old friend who used to be a bank manager and later the city mayor (this guy knows literally EVERYBODY in town) took me to an awesome little place that's run by an ex-sumo (quiet place near the beach that looks like an abandoned old beach shack but is a lush restaurant inside).

Also enjoyed a few cups of sake with a few local fishermen... one runs a seaside getaway for people with disabilities where they can live across from the sea, go sailing, catch a few fish, do some food prep and serve up a bit of sake/shochu (or coffees - they do a good iced coffee!)
