Most of the double entendres on Are You Being Served went over my head when watching it as a 10-11 year old. I still loved it just the same.

All time favourite Dads Army. Arthur Lowe was comedic genius.

          Other faves:
Mother & Son. (The combo of Garry MacDonald and Ruth Cracknell unsurpassed).
          Yes Minister
          Seinfeld
          F Troop
Any Monty Python (wrote the book on later 20th century farce, many derivations since).
          Fry & Laurie
          Two Ronnie's
          Alas Smith & Jones
          Little Britain
Some Mothers Do Ave Em (great singer too Frank)
          Shaun Micallefs characters
Family Guy (pick of the animateds)
          The Goodies
          Rowan Atkinson esp in Stand-up

          I'm sure I've missed some.

I worked at Gowings as my first job fresh off the bus from the country and it was like Are You Being Served? I was interviewed right there in the shirt department by a lovely old gentleman who wore a tape measure around his neck..the suit department downstairs was the same..as a big fan of department stores as a child, I thought it was wonderful and glamorous watching that show.. We only had small shops in the country of course so coming to visit my grandmother and going to DJ's, Waltons or Grace Brothers was like being on that show..

Frasier was my favourite from the 90's.

Mind Your Language.....i thought i was the only one who watched it!! That French chick in Mr.Browns class-she was a knockout. Speaking of Mr Brown the guy who played him,Barry Evans, was found dead at home when he was 50 odd- no cause of death was ever found.

I also loved Love Thy Neighbour & On the Buses- you couldn't get away with shows like that in todays age

Big fan of Welcome Back Kotter - i used to do the Vinnie Barbarino dance at school to try to impress the females....unfortunately i failed!

Definitely. I always considered Bob Todd stole the show (in a good way), especially when he was drunk which apparently was quite often. But overall it was a great show growing up.

Absolutely Fabulous, Morecambe and Wise and Till Death Us Do Part were also great.

Interesting fact re: Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Michael Crawford did almost all (if not all) his own stunts. Another great British comedy too. And as someone else pointed out, an excellent musician as well - a very talented artist.

For those who want to watch Benny Hill, I found 55 episodes on youtube. We all watched it back in the day..we only had 2 channels growing up in the bush....the opening Thames logo was a big part of my childhood as all the shows came from UK..apart from Bellbird..and number 96...

Good stuff Mr Bond. my family and I still quote Ab Fab to one another and I just wrote out a birthday card to a family member with 'take the glasses in with you, cheers thanks a lot' on it..plus every time someone is taking their time getting ready, its the old "eat it, clear it, wear it or move it!" to get people going....On my first trip to London, my friend made me go stand in front of Christian Lacroix sweetie...so he could take a photo of me..it's a Lacroix..!

You know its the sign of a good show when decades later you are still quoting lines from it and people know exactly what you are talking about. Seinfeld was great for that also..a lot of us bonded in our virtual 'work office' during Covid over our love of that show..that's always an ice breaker for team bonding when you are trying to get a group of people together to work as a team. It made me really happy working with people half my age who knew all about Seinfeld and would just as happily quote the lines as often as me.

I'm sure Dad used to watch Morecambe & Wise. I also liked Man About The House which was a spin off from George & Mildred I think...again the Thames logo
