This thread is for all things travel related.

Travel stories, places visited, plans to travel etc.

Whats the best pace you have visited?

Pls don’t post links to music vids unless it’s relevant like ‘Turning Japanese’ if you are travelling to Japan.

I hadn’t travelled anywhere for some time due to Covid, but a bit over two weeks ago we travelled to Gold Coast on a family holiday.

It was a joyous little weeks break got see my home up there, went to a theme park and on those roller coasters and other insane rides. Spent lots of time on the beach or pool side in the Winter sun and found a nice Irish pub down the Rd from our hotel that served pints of Guinness. Also got to see Leeds United play two pre season friendless one against Brisbane Roar and one against Aston Villa. It was a great time away and it made me realise how much I miss living there.

      Awesome Andy!

I love the GC but not the central part. North of the bridge is awesome. A bit quieter and cheaper as well.

Another Travel thread? I think RWB created one a while ago and it was a fizzer. We could just resurrect that thread? I have many travel plans for the future but covid is doing its best to destroy all my dreams.

I think the timing was wrong with that thread At least it was for me I like to comment with recent experiences not older ones

Fair enough. We've been to the Gold Coast a few times as a family, mainly for the Theme Parks. Kids = theme parks. I spent most of the time being the bag / camera / phone / keys minder while the kids and husband spent time on all the rides! We're hoping to go to NZ at the end of the year but I'm worried about the Covid protocols there and having to test twice after arrival. If any of us get a negative test then we have to isolate at our own cost for 7 days and there goes more than half of our holiday! I'm procrastinating abuut whether to risk it.

Heading to what will hopefully be a sunny Darwin in a few weeks, will be doing a couple of quick trips to Kakadu and Litchfield national park while there but will be spending time in Darwin itself also.

Depending on the weather will hopefully getting away for a week or two up to Port Macquarie and Grassy Head in late October early November, last couple of times Grassy Head had to be cancelled because of the weather. Will spend a couple of nights at Port Stephens on the way up if we go. Otherwise a small pre Christmas break at Narrabeen will do, a little break without leaving Sydney.

We want to go to the NT some time in the future so looking forward to hearing about your trip Horrie. I think I read that August / September is the best time to go. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether I can cope with the heat as I really do not like humidity.

No need to dig up the stale one.

Are you North of the Broadwater ? I think that’s the water and bridge that takes you too Southport snd beyond. My home is on the Southern End We stayed in Surfers when we were there I know that feeling of hoping to get to see your place again Up till two ago I was thinking the same thing with my place.

What if you’re staying in a motor home? You could still see the sights while isolating!

Been to NZ 4 times and would go back in a heartbeat. Our next trip there will definitely be in a motor home.

Andrew Walker rented tracksuit ah I might be confused. I'm more to the west at Upper Coomera. You guys are closer to the water. I'm on the edge of the hinterland.

Have been to NZ a few times but not since the early to mid 90s unless you count a one night stop over near Auckland airport in the mid 2000s on the way to Hawaii.
Had an ex who was a Kiwi so that's why I went a few times. Both islands are great but South Island is stunning.
