I’ve only ever spent that sort of money eating out once and it involved a lot of crab!

It isn't 'fine dining' per se but I always hit up Dead Ringer for a degustation meal + cocktails before/after games. It's more of a 'casual' experience than a white tablecloths kinda do. However, I never go hungry before/after games.

Costs maybe $250 for two (with cocktails), which is pretty solid IMO.

Side note, for fathers day my wife tool me to a place called 'The Inn' in Ainslie. I've been to the downstairs bit to watch footy with friends a few times. Upstairs they did a degustation lunch for fathers day and it was great. My son enjoyed it too (despite it being a loooong sitting), which IMO shows it isn't just a wank. They gave him a massive ice ball in a glass and he was happy twirling it around the whole time...

I think the steaks there are regarded as some of the best in Canberra

That is good value as the food is top notch and it is a very nice setting, i really enjoyed it when I went but the work situation meant I had to rush back after it so would have liked to sit longer and linger and probably would have ordered another bottle of wine .

Check out Dunbar House at Watsons Bay which i mentioned earlier. , went there for my 25th anniversary a couple of years ago, food was very good, sat out on the balcony but the weather was horrible with rain and it was the day that the Northern beaches was going into lock down at 5pm that day so it was a very strange eerie feeling, seeing it was a bit of strange day we decided to go again for our 26th anniversary last year and the weather was beautiful and again sat on the balcony and like the first time the food and service was excellent.

yeah thanks horrie, the beauties I had about $800 in credit for red balloon, so Luke’s restaurant was on it, and so is Dunbar house, 3 course lunch for two, with a drink $130.

so I’ll definitely do that next time I’m up there.

Wouldn't doubt it. Part of the degustation was a small steak and it was awesome.

Havnt been there mate. Must give it a go sometime but it would be hard to beat the $12 Schnitty meal at the Raiders club at Mawson on trivia night Wednesday!
