Not that anyone would care but I sincerely apologise to those admirers of the talents of Judith Durham and ONJ who might have found offence in my, uninformed as it turns out, remarks. My slagging off at their oeuvre was wrong and ignorant and based on their more commercial hits but the Music Show on Radio National presented a tribute to them last week (rplays via the RN website) which used lesser known material to highlight things like range and the vocal elements that made both special. I didn't know that ONJ was classically trained for example and Durham had a distinctive upper register that did cut through in harmony.

Thanks Paddo but for some of us the fallout has come at a cost.

              I'm impressed.
For no good reason I had you pegged as someone who thought admitting they were wrong is beneath them.
              Good on you.

Nice work Paddo, strength of character to apologise.

Agree. As I said in my initial post to you on the subject not all music genres are everyone’s cup of tea. But that doesn’t make them unworthy. Music is subjective. The Seekers hold a special place in MY heart because they bring back fond memories of my childhood, riding in the car on family holidays etc with Mum playing them on the car cassette player. Judith had a very unique voice and had some major health issues at the end of her life. She deserved some respect rather than a critique of her musical style. But nice apology Paddo.

I often find rumination on parents is not a good thing though your recollections, like RWB's, are fond ones. I wonder if that is more true of females who are, after all, usually left with the responsibility of aging parents where the roles are reversed and the payback for childhood care begins. Maye most posters are not in that age group yet. My mother was unlucky enough to have two sons.

My ruminations lead to guilt feelings more than anything else. The passing memory of a joyful moment is fine but anything more intense than that tells you things about yourself and for most, they would not be good things. I was unappreciative. As I was with JD and ONJ.

I have two kids of my own, as well as losing a beautiful little angel. A Mum’s love is a powerful thing and unconditional.

It’s not the song I know. Different tune too

Thanks very much Paddo and I do care. It takes a lot to apologise to someone online and I appreciate you taking the time to write the message. This was only just brought to my attention now. Ironic since you don't know me from a bar of soap.

Thanks again and I hope you have a great Fathers Day.
