Completely agree PC Reschs is a true man’s beer. When I was a kid all the real men drank Reschs, but the real appeal for me was seeing all the drunks on the street in Surry Hills drinking it. I always thought to myself when I grow up I’m gonna drink Reschs. My way of thinking was every drunk in Sydney can’t be wrong so, Reschs is my first beer of choice. I’m also a fan of a good pint of Guinness

Much like you clutching a bottle of Cattlemans, Menadue was outed by the locals in the pub who remarked ‘Like his boss, Menadue doesn’t hold a glass of beer convincingly’.

In his campaign he was endorsing Labor’s policies of the time, namely withdrawing from the Vietnam conflict our US allies had dragged us into and the White Australia sentiment was high with calls of ‘Fight the yellow hordes as far as possible from Australia’. American imperialism had taken hold by then.

For you, they should be admired for their stance, however change takes time.

Let's be clear... Menadue is pro-dictatorships.

They're certainly not supportive of the Russian-backed invasion from within that brought power to Ho Chi Minh.

Similar principles apply to the Korean war FWIW (although the Russian / Chinese backed north got a small piece of the pie and ended up being a hermit state).

War and bloodshed is not the solution to ending fascism and human rights abuses in the developing world. However, neither is Menadue's support for China / Russia's continued 'right' to continuously try to destabilise their neighbours in order to ensure they don't become democracies.

Vietnam's one to watch. China now calls it a 'western puppet' and big companies like Apple are gradually moving their manufacturing to Vietnam in favour of China. I don't think it's the country you think it is. And yeah... I think you'll find I have a bit more skin in the game than John Manadue on this one.
