Can’t get takeaway shop style burgers here. Everything is processed and comes in a package so will be making my own tomorrow night. Got the burger squasher and the cooking domes so should cook up nicely.
will load it up with beetroot, lettuce, pineapple, cheese, an egg and some red river whiskey sauce. The bun will be my only stumbling block. Probably go with a Kaiser roll ad I think it’s the closest thing to the good old Woolies bakery soft rolls.FVCK CANCER

They'd make their own patties outta their secret mix (tasted good), measure it out onto their big cooking surface, squash it, chuck the rest on and put together a nice big burger for you.
Meanwhile I'd pop a few bucks into the pinball machines (they had 5 or 6) and have some fun. Once the burger was ready I could walk over to the beach and gobble it down.
Forget what they were called, but something pretty generic. Now it's some hipster joint, which makes no sense for me in the Gong but whatevz. It's funny going there nowadays as it's gone all toff on me. I bumped into this random lady from my yeah who was apparently on MasterChef (or similar) and she was acting as if she was the queen of town. Didn't actually recognise her (and have never watched the show - don't think she even did all that well), which she seemed pretty offended about.
Oh well... the Gong! The place I love and hate at the same time. Used to see Brett Whitley up the road at Jim's Fish in Thirroul (he lived outta a hotel there for a few years before his death... dunno what was going on there [something to do with drugs probably] but he was always cheerful enough to me).

I'm just sorry it took me years till i tried this place, used to drive past it a lot without trying it, decided to call in about 4 -5 years ago to give it a try, one of the last old fashioned take away's around and the food did not disappoint , old style hamburger made with love, i would not say it was the best i ever had but you knew what you were getting and it was just a great old fashioned feed. It closed about 6 months ago and i so miss it.

There’s another one way down at Tathra that did a good feed. It’s the first one on the left coming down from the lookout. It also had a couple of pinnies that took a few bucks off me while waiting to devour my dirty burgers and fried delicacies.
