If I must, the Barnsey isn’t a bad burger there.

Must say, I was very upset when I heard that my favourite kebab shop just down the street had blown to pieces a few months back.
Have a had few decent burgers from the Kingston Hotel over the years and also don't mind a burger from Brodburger in Kingston, not that i get down there very often. Slightly off topic but i wanted to try some fried chicken from Kingsley's at Belconnen last time i was down in Canberra but it was burnt out from a fire.

You ain’t missing much with Kingsleys. It’s more of a Canberra cult thing than a good feed. Chips are probably the best in Canberra though if they are fresh.

Yeah, it caught fire When the kebab shop blew up. I’m amazed no one was killed when it went kaboom!

The best thing about Kingsley’s are the ‘awesome chips’. Also Goodberry’s frozen custard is the best!

I just love trying fried chicken from different places, it is my one real guilty pleasure. Just wanted to give Kingsley's a try, i know there are more around Canberra, didn't realiise the kebab shop fire you mentioned was why Kingsley's was closed too.

Goodberry’s is delicious but the stores just feel sticky and dirty. Even the seats tables It’s probably from the copious amounts of sugary, custard, icecreamy stuff getting spilled everywhere.

The kebab shop wasn’t so much of a fire as it was a totally wild explosion! The place was instantly destroyed! I’m lucky to be alive tbh… I used to frequent that place almost daily!

They had great chips as well.

If you want some of the best fried chicken in Canberra, this place is a MUST…
              Chez Kimchi Canberra City Centre

Have to admit i haven't got in the Korean fried chicken craze yet even though there are plenty around the city here. I just like the fried chicken on the bone like KFC but of course better than the crap KFC serve. There is a place in Wollongong called Chicko's almost opposite WIN stadium and if i'm ever down south i call in there, juicy chicken with plenty of meat on the pieces, craps all over KFC, some times get a 10 pack to bring home for dinner. Apart from that the fried chicken from Clem's in Newtown fills the bill for me and close to home. Will have to try the Korean fried chicken somewhere though.

You’re probably right. But we usually buy and take away so have never really noticed.

Horrie, if you are ever around that area of Canberra, literally just around the corner is the best Dumpling/Chinese/Asian place in town. CBD Dumpling House.

Must have the pan fried prawn and pumpkin dumplings, the red curry chicken (leave some dumplings to dip in the sauce) and the shedded Singapore beef.

                      Damn I miss home!

Yep it went booom! I think they left the gas on and some guy walked in with a durry... nobody killed but kinda sad to see it all happen. Get my local (Greek) bakery talking about it and he'll tell you the lowdown.

FWIW I was playing a game with my son when it exploded (Skies of Arcadia on our Dreamcast - think pirates but in ships that float around in the sky). My wife was out having a night with the girls so we cranked up the volume and were doing an epic boss battle where all the cannons were rumbling the room around.

At one point our ship got slammed by a massive cannonball and the whole house shook. We both said 'wooooah that felt soooo realistic!!!' The next day we read reports about the kebab shop and realised that the explosion wasn't my full hectic subwoofer.

That place was definitely an institution. For ~$60 we used to always order a take-away banquet 'for two' (always lasted 2-3 days ). They also did a mean HSP with the holy trinity. Yarralumla's setup nearby (in the mall) but TBH I find them over-rated. We usually do either Turkish Delight (followed by Goodberry's as they are on the same strip) or order from Jammo.

                        Aaaah Belco pride!

Haha crazy, you know all the best places mate!!! Old mate trackie's definitely a man of culture.

Chez Kimchi's definitely the business. I always get their kimchee pancake. My wife likes the 'snow chicken' at this place we go to in Dicko. However, I can't recall the name. There's also Korean/Japanese place (Korean-run but does an okay Japanese curry & chicken katsu) near Kippax that goes alright.

Turkish delight is nice if you want a bit more classy Turkish food but tbh, if I’m going a kebab, I want it from a kebab shop and not a Turkish restaurant. They do give you the absolute biggest Turkish flat bread in the world there which is awesome with a carrot dip. Their zucchini balls aren’t too shabby either. Don’t do Goodberrys there much. Being a southerner, Erindale is the place for us.

The Yarralumla kebabs are excellent but that’s all they are. No meal deals or anything. Used to frequent the original place when we had our house in Yarralumla as well.

Capital kebabs at Fyshwick is always a great feed as well but the owner Chris has really priced them beyond the moon now. It’s unfortunate but he’s a nice bloke so don’t mind it on occasions to have a good feed and a chat with him.

Crank that subby mate. Nothing better than having a great sound system to game and watch good movies with thumping sound. Shake the foundations!

I’ve heard about that place in Dickson but havnt been there. To me, Dickson is too trendy now but if im
going to get ripped off there, it’s got to be Ruby. Dropped over $300 there one night for just me and the missus. The chilli crabs were a delight tho.

back to Chez, the snow cheese on the boneless pieces is something else as is the sweet and spicy.

Have you been 80m up the street to Akiba? Easily in the top 5 in Canberra for me. Remortgage the house before going tho! A couple of tips… try the sweet corn pancakes with the chilli caramel glaze, the Japanese fried chicken and the beef short ribs with tamarind caramel and Asian herbs.

Damn! Why am I doing this to myself!!!
