I have no idea who I'm with now but before I moved we were with Optus and they were really good, gave us very little trouble.

Broadband Internet - any suggestions?

I reckon Optus are pretty good but then again I work for them.....
The way to go is bundling. Like the deal Phantom has...you have a couple of services with the one carrier and you get a better deal.
Do you live in a cabled area NC as that would play a part in your decision. I live on the Central Coast and get DSL broadband which is no where near as fast as cable broadband.

OK, more "dumb"? questions before I make a decision on this.
If I mainly use my internet for browsing the web and internet banking etc and don't download movies and only the occasional song, is 256/64k speed quick enough, or should I go for 512k/128k?
Also is 3GB peak period download quota per month enough to do the above for 7-10 hours a week?
I have no idea about these numbers or what they mean - I have the luxury of fast internet at work without having to know the details behind it. So the technical side of researching this is doing my bloody head in.
At this stage I'm looking at TPG as the provider.
Would appreciate any advice available.

Thanks for all the responses guys.
Apparently my phone line is ADSL2+ capable so I've gone with TPG "Fast Starter" on an 18 month plan. I can always upgrade the paln if I find this one insufficient.
Hopefully I'll be up and running with it in the next week or two once the modem and instructions arrive.
No doubt there will plenty of swearing involved as I attempt the set up.
Just as well their technical support has good reviews, as I may well need their expertise.
Thanks again everyone.
