Your post at #387 nails it Zac. Not surprising that our friends continue to beat the drum, it's a classic Newscorp reaction. But enough, I'm not wasting any more time on ol'Jaxie and the King of Google.
I still haven't seen any MSM mention of the peace settlement brokered by China between Saudi and Iran. It is very significant as the the US has fancied itself as the dominant player id the Middle East up to this point. Both of those nations and Turkiye have signed onto the Chinese Belt and Road and the Silk Road initiatives because they see the trade links and prosperity it is designed to bring. Most of Central Asia have done the same so all of this is clearly leadership on China's part and that's the role that it has stated it wants to play globally. Our MSM must be waiting for riding instructions from Washington? The ALP is probably doing the same.

Yeah whatevah!
Well and truly time to revise that Cold War thinking re China and realise that you've backed the wrong horse Kingsly. The unipolar world of US domination is on the wane. Russia in Syria and China generally have pulled the rug out from under the US in the Middle East which was collectively insulted by the US's "with us or against us" demands over the Ukraine situation. They've had more than enough of American meddling with the disasters that have resulted from the "Arab Spring" interference and they don't believe that Uncle Sam is anything like a force for good. You need to get over there and straighten those rag heads out.
This thread is called "Let's get the facts on China" and that's what I'm endeavouring to do through discussion but your agenda is to shut that discussion down. Now that's a real agenda.Last edited by Paddo Colt 61; 03-28-2023, 12:53 PM.

The MSM (Mainstream Media) is the popular media - all TV and radio including the ABC. All newspapers and magazines. Most online sites that are adjuncts of corporate media. Any media used by the masses Facebook, Instagram etc..
Ol' Jaxie has called John Menadue a fringe website and the implication is that it is a kind of Qanon. It's a slur that is patently ridiculous as most contributors to Menadue, and the man himself, are highly credentialed and the site has been set up, like Michael West Media, to discuss important issues frankly and in more depth than the MSM which which is owned by right wing oligarchs who choose what is published and how news and opinion are presented. The Union movement attempted to publish its own newspaper a couple of times but minus tits, bums and celebrities they've gone nowhere.
The difference in what is disseminated on the "fringe" sites and the MSM is staggering. One is informative and scholarly and the other full of reactionary bias on any issue of importance and that is if an issue is covered at all (see the China peace initiative in the Middle East and the proposal for talks re Ukraine which has been accepted in principle by all but the USA).
The hardest thing to accept is that despite telling surveys that the MSM lacks credibility, the masses then turn around and believe it. And it is powerful enough to manufacture our consent to go to war. Kingsley would have it that this is Democracy - oligarchs and war mongering elites running the show and the masses blissfully ignorant.
No Kingsley I won't go to China. Who'd wanna go somewhere there's a knock on the door at midnight, pubs infested with government agents, the dead piled shoulder high after peaceful protests, the insanity of provoking wars when you're the main providore to the world and you have no overseas bases. The neglect of minorities, the unaffordability of housing, HECs debts that that mean you'd never be able to afford a house without having rich parents, a media that disinforms and lies. Oh wait, that serious stuff is OZLast edited by Paddo Colt 61; 03-28-2023, 05:48 PM.

[QUOTE=mightyrooster; I think Renty was referring to someone else actually Jack. But still this thread wore out long ago.
On the contrary, I see it as evolving MR. Surely China's recent initiatives in the Middle East and in Ukraine are new developments that place it in stark contrast to the US which, essentially, has been a trouble maker. The developments deserve consideration and should mark the beginning of the weaning off our badly misinformed popular view of China. Certainly there is a stark contrast with "Red Alert".
