Nah....he didn't "try", he parroted things that he'd heard on Western (US) media. He saw none of what he reported.

Years ago when working at Glebe High I walked into a senior Modern History class just as the teacher was posing the question "Why is Australia in Afghanistan?". What an interesting opening I thought but the blank faces mirroring even blanker minds made it a rhetorical one. "We're fighting for freedom aren't we?" he responded without any hint of irony. That was the first time that I realised that the ATAR for Teaching had plummeted. He was obviously a Tele reader like his audience the majority of which would go on through life thinking that MSM was a voice from on high and that its reportings were immutable and unarguable.

Because of an existing bias Voods accepted what he read and saw on American TV as truth in the same way as those at Glebe did. He uncritically internalised it and it became his own, as if he had witnessed it all himself and, as a result, he could also report, in an omniscient way, the views and emotions of "everybody" as in "the riots that everybody has seen" and "nobody feels safe". I very much doubt that either statement is a true representation of the HK majority and certainly not of the good folk of Pok Fu Lam out in the 'burbs. Izzy does the same with everybody thinks such'n'such so you're outta line and wrong what's more.

My concern with this thread and others is that we need to resist the power of MSM and ask searching questions about critical matters which may eventually lead to us sending our children and other young Australians off to yet another American war which is not in our own national interest. Heckle and Jeckle do their best to obfuscate with columns of stupidity, personal abuse and irrelevancy and that works because most people hate change and just want their biases confirmed.

Mate i'd say you're full of shit but it's obvious that you're nowhere near full. Voodoo gives a first hand report and you think you can work out why he said what he said? Really? Psychology part of your never ending self proclaimed credentials?

The blathering that you read from the conga line is not reason, its a shout down and it works because most of those who take the time to read the thread get confused by the stridency of the attack having little experience of reasoned argument as you might expect if the MSM is their main source of info. The Congas are essentially book burners.

Quite clearly, Voods' HK report is flawed - what's the point of reporting from the ground when what you report is what we've all seen on the MSM. He actually saw nothing, he relayed his own emotions - doesn't even know his way around HK. Probably spends a good part of the day in the air con watching Fox. And that final self serving courageous stand (if it happened) was the cherry on top - NCW (no cred whatsoever). And yet some posters seem to think that his was an objective contribution that was categorically undeniable. Go figure.

On the other hand, the sources of information that I have cited do have cred for the most part. King dismisses, even ridicules them as being opinion (as if his sources aren't that) but the opinions that I cite are those of high ranking former public servants, credentialed academics and respected investigative journalists. They are reasoned opinions with evidence to support them. Of course this is where I lose people who are frightened of detail and the cognitive dissonance involved. I saw it over my education years, there is a point where, in explanation, you lose people who for one reason or another can't stay with the argument and they give up - learning Mathematics is a prime example. Hadley and Jones have made fortunes out of it. People tend to believe the bully.

1. The only source of material that you find palatable is a blog that quite openly publishes anti-western opinions under Menadue's editorial. Contributors are a niche group of anti-western, pro-Russia/China dudes with very little self awareness about how this very luxury of free thinking/ (no matter how bonkers your views are) is afforded to them by the fact they live in a liberal democracy.

2. You dismiss every single mainstream opinion out there and run with a constant line that there's a massive, mainstream media conspiracy (which extends to deep collusion between all governments aside from Russia, China, North Korea and maybe a few others). Aside from how ridiculous the logistics of this would be, it's simply bonkers to suggest that no real journalists, economists, diplomats, academics...etc exist (and that a niche group of outcasts with anti-western views are the 'heavyweights').

3. I dunno what to say! You call anybody who disagrees with your opinions stupid, blind minions of this global conspiracy.
