Our MSM provides us with basic news and informtion but beyond that it is an instrument of power weilded by a wealthy elite with interests which are totally divorced from or foreign to ordinary folk and, to make things worse, we have a near monopoly Right Wing control of media in this country. and in most of the Western world.

The MSM's treatment on both the Ukraine and China has been anything but informative. Most of us, because we are of herd mentality, accept what seems to be a general consensus to the point of hostility towards anyone or any other information that seeks to revise conventional "widoms" The uyghur issue is a case in point. Just on the Officer Class, it's not commom knowledge but the POW deaths in the railway camps in Burma were, for the officers, in single figures. For the men, the figures were in the thousands.

The Geneva Convention exempted Officers from manual work and there is no record of an officer taking the place of someone who might need a break.On the other hand, they did sometimes take a garden bed prepared by the men in their spare time. Some Aussie commanding Officers gave escape plans up to the Japanese and had men punished "Jap style" for all sorts of other things.
