Right on Count, that's the strength of it. I haven't seen any local coverage of the Chinese successful mediation between Saudi and Iran. Sort of gives a different impression of a China that the US wants us to see as dangerous. It looks pretty much like a peacemaker in fact. More of a peace initiative than buying nuclear attack submarines for long discredited "forward defence".
How some on here can see the US as a force for good despite its long history of wars and aggression is incomprehensible unless you take into account our useless not to say, mendacious MSM. Did you see that conga line of gormless twits lining up for a Keating spray - there were the nasty ideological ones like Andrew (Red Alert) Knott who was rightly excoriated by PK and then there were the pretty, empty head girls who touchingly believe their own (America's) bullshit and seemingly have opinions completely free of any context. Watching them, I understood how my former boneheaded student climbed the dizzy heights. It kinda explains the Right's campaigns to discredit people like "Red" Kerry O'Brien which essentially said "We object to truthful, analytical journalism. We want nice, compliant and conformist mid level Catholic school people.
We saw the free, pluralistic Media that Izzy lauds so embarrassingly while he equally embarrassingly sneers at at the journalism of the enemies of US hegemony. OZ "journos" took a caning from Keating but what are the odds that they will learn from it?Comment

How some on here can religiously sing the same monotonous praises of Authoritarian and Totalitarian regimes like China and Russia ad nauseum is far more incomprehensible especially when they would never in a million years migrate to such countries let alone visit them.

You've done it again Count. The problem is that the Sheeple don't get irony. They don't get much at all actually. They're uninterested to the point where they accept unquestioningly the lame and low intelligence MSM that we saw and heard at the Press Club. Salvo and the departed one whose ghost keeps returning are prime examples of sheeple dedicated to the ongoing maintenance of Brain Dead-ism.
The lamentable, if not demented, Mark Latham said in one of his more lucid observations that he never met a soldier who wasn't a meathead and I loved Keating's press conference remark that the "Security " Services were a bunch of ning nongs. Both are rightly exposed in that clip that you posted but obvious anyway to anyone with an interest in things apart from footy, MAFS, Survivor and The Block. but ... you don't have to be communist or even left wing to want our dealings with china to be sensible. like the rob sitch video said - why are we spending hundreds of billions on subs to protect our trade when china is a big trading partner?
don't get me wrong - i don't trust china - but wondering if we're on the right side of history with china is something we need to do. and i'm not necessarily against the aukus sub deal - it might work.Comment

I think he is trying to copy some of his hero's in Mao/Stalin/Castro who were known for their long repetitive speeches
