For whatever reasons. We did not turn up today and the game and score board reflected this. To use a Leeds United saying, we go again next year.

Commiserations to Horrie Hastings and Andrew Walker and all the other Swans supporters on here. It was a very lopsided game that’s for sure.

I know you follow it pretty closely and I know others who do who were divided on Buddy these days especially signing on again. I dont follow it closely so was interested in your thoughts.
Thanks Jack. Yes i was very one sided, reminded of the 2014 Grand Final when Hawthorn belted the Swans . Buddy is one of those once in a life time players, glad he is playing again, still saw him do some amazing things this year that any other player just could not do.

Such is life. We still had a good day here yesterday. Feeling a bit dusty today

Was a bit deflating MR, did think Geelong would be to strong but didn't expect the thumping they handed out to the Swans yesterday. Lucky i have been to three Swans Grand Finals live and all have been exciting close games. The three i have decided to watch from the comfort of my own home have been disasters ( 2014, 2016 and 2022 ), probably a bit unfair about 2016 as the game was in the balance going into the last 8 minutes and injuries caught up with them.
Still looking forward to next year now, they will be there abouts again, a great bunch of young kids who would have learnt lots from yesterdays defeat.

2016 was daylight robbery Any time that game is mentioned In disturbed. One set of rules for Footscray another for our Swans.

Can’t say I saw yesterday coming before the match But ten minutes in I knew we were going to get flogged We were not at the game so to speak We just ate and drunk and enjoyed the day Woke up deflated today but that’s as much to do with the booze consumption as the game.

We go again next year mate.

I just watched the 2005 Grand Final again and what a win that was experiencing it live, had breathing difficulties in the last quarter of the game due to the closeness of the match, i still got a chill seeing Leo Barry take that mark to win the game just watching it then.

The game i cannot watch is the 2006 Grand Final and not because they lost by 1 pt but because at the time of all the rumours swirling around about West Coast toxic drug culture which came to light after wards.

05, 06 and 12 were all epic Grand Finals. 2012 being the best of them and imo the best AFL grand final I’ve watched. The ebbs and flows of that game were extreme. Both those GFS we won I’m glad that I fully enjoyed the wins. It isn’t easy to make a GF let alone win a GF. It is why I chose to enjoy yesterday even when I realised very early on where the game would end up.
Normally Id think yesterday was a dagger in
the heart for next year. But for some reason
I don’t think yesterday will have any bearing on where we finish next year.

PS I have a wonderful limerick in your honour regarding yesterday which I will post soon It is now on the poetry thread

2012 was my favourite, as you say the ebbs and flows were extreme, fantastic game to be at. I remember a big rain storm came through the ground before kick off, it was typical Melbourne weather, dark and gloomy then the sun out. Didn't notice any aggro from the Hawthorn supporters that day and even had my photo taken with a Hawks supporter at the Cricketers Arm pub near the ground before the game, he had a mo hawk and i had my head shaved but left a stripe up the middle so it looked like a mo hawk of sorts, he told me his girl friend hated his mo hawk lol.
Friends who went down for the 2014 game all commented on how feral the Hawks supporters were, maybe it was because Buddy had left them to go to the Swans by then but i never saw or got any aggro from the Hawks supporters before, at the game or after the game in 2012.

I remember those Grand Finals well. I didn’t see them live of course but watched them at home. I’m actually a Hawks fan (given the latest stuff in the news about them I’m disappointed to admit that) but I do have a big soft spot for the Swans. I don’t follow the game religiously though which is why I have a second team in the Swans. The other half has done his best to convert me to Richmond but sadly for him I hated them from a young age, at the same time I decided I liked Hawthorn.

                        yeah really dissapointing.

credit to Geelong, far too good.

I feel like the NRL final could be same. Panthers too good.

2016 was pure corruption. Everyone wanted the Bulldogs fairy tale and the umpires got caught up in it.

It was a hard one for who to go for in the other pelim final that year, the Western Bulldogs or GWS and of course that game went down to the wire, the allure of an all Sydney AFL Grand Final between the Swans and GWS was a real possibility but i really dislike GWS because of their filthy style of play and they also they had beaten the Swans in an earlier semi by a decent margin so i was going for the Dogs in that game, in hindsight a Swans GWS Grand Final would have been the better option.

The 2006 Grand Final is the one that really sticks in my gut, not because the Swans had lost by 1 point but because of all the speculation that was swirling around about the drug culture at West Coast at the time, it was like the AFL had turned a blind eye to it but eventually it all came out in the years after, to me that premiership to the Eagles is so so tainted.

Swans didn't get one free kick in the 3rd quarter which is remarkable in afl, as you said it was the fairytale everyone wanted with the bulldogs breaking the drought.

Interesting break down of the free kicks or lack of mostly in the second half.
