Australia was the lowest ranked at 38 in their group - France 4 / Denmark 10 / Tunisia 30

A 2-1 Loss to World Number 3 Argentina in the Round 16 game is no disgrace when you compare the squads.

2006 was an opportunity lost in progressing the game at the local and national levels so hopefully this won't be the case after this World Cup as there certainly is an appetite for the game when you look at the viewership numbers and attendances at the live sites.

Too much of Football Australia officials patting each other on the back when that was the start of the hard work to capitalise on the National Teams Success at the grass root and local levels.

It will be interesting what happens after the Women's FIFA World cup as well- Australia is ranked 13 in the Women's game

Agreed mate... not a massive soccer fan but it's a massive result in a comp that's dominated by Euro and South American teams (where it's their #1 sport and players are printing money). We definitely showed up!

Yes we punched above our weight and exceeded most expectations My favourite win was the Tunisian game watched it at the pub and there only seemed to be few of us watching it intently but the roar and celebration from all at full time when we won really was something else.
