Wow so many childhood memories are evoked with these contributions, thanks guys.
Ones already mentioned that I loved:
Kimba
Wacky Races
Doctor Who
Atom Ant
Top Cat
Countdown
Adventure Island
Dave Allen
Adventure Island
Catweazle
Others I recall loving:
The Goodies
Two Ronnies
Sesame Street
ABC Match of the Day
Amco Cup Wednesday nites...great for schoolkids to break up the week.
Kenny Everett
Harold Park trots legs of the double on ABC
Aunty Jack
To Serve Them All My Days
I know theres more. We used to have an old black n white telly with two channels. I remember the vertical hold was dodgy and you had to hit the TV or stamp your foot to fix. The local TV tech was called Alan Magic, and it was magic when he fixed the box! Was always the focal point of the house growing up.
And the radio for listening to the races or the footy. You absolutely sweated on the around the grounds score updates..."And now to Jim Maxwell at the Sports Ground ". Memories of nerves and excitement

Yes I remember watching the Saturday afternoon game on the ABC when I started to follow the game and Easts in the late 70’s. And the midweek AMCO Cup, which we were lucky to get living in a small NSW country town. The round the grounds scores on a Sunday were a big thing waiting for the Easts score if we weren’t match of the day. I also remember when Dad and Mum upgraded to a colour TV. Wow that was exciting! And remember those tiny portable TVs they used to have in the 70’s. We had one of those too later on and I had to have my face practically right up against it to see what was on the screen.

The Banana Splits had a segment on their show called Danger Island ( it was also made into a movie ) it was a cornball comedy action adventure starring a young Jan Michael Vincent and also the famous line Uh Oh Chongo, probably very politically incorrect these days but was a lot of fun back then.
