Haven't seen these threads for a while since blocking old mate (best move of 2023). However I've had a few too many limoncellos tonight so figured I'd make my own.
NB - the title is purely satire. I'd choose Australia, Italy and Japan (my 3 countries) over an authoritarian dictatorship any day. Um. Awks for old mate but I say this as somebody whose family has been through Italy as a dictatorship, Japan as a dictatorship and Vietnam as a dictatorship. Funny how people with experience don't jerk about with this shyte and pretend the free world's responsible for what's going on in fascist dictatorships.
Worth reiterating that old mate's assertion that we're farked because Whitlam lost the 1975 election after ruining our economy and Assange has been refused bail after hacking US Defence systems & skipping bail for ~10 years is complete bull. The fact we're allowed to support both characters if we choose is proof that we're frigging awesome!
Goodnight. See you at a Sunday Parkrun tomorrow if I can find one (otherwise I'm gonna find a mountain to climb and go for a chilled run).
FWIW I don't do a lot of 5km runs but did today's Parkrun in 17. Mixed emotions. I was still hung-over from my in-laws' massive Vietnamese birthday bash (mum's birthday + a "cousin's" birthday). Some tool gave me a spray at the end because I'd supposedly been cramping his style or some shyte. Pretended I couldn't hear him and just walked off. Other than that it was a friendly run... got lotsa followers on Strava & compliments about my run (despite being hung-over and pretty p!ss poor) so it was a great vibe. Might visit that town again as a bonus of Parkruns is that you get to travel a bit if you go for coverage.
If there's one at the Glebe retirement villiage I'll see if old mate's doing it. Maybe he's right as smoking a heap of bongs is better for his health than going for a jog & holding a barbie for his mates.
